Wiring Help: Add Another Switch to Control Light

You need an additional wire from the existing switch; this can’t be avoided. Which is more convenient, to run a cable from the existing switch to the new switch, or from the existing switch to the junction box?

Storing glyphosphate in van and spraying it

Have you read the RHS page I linked to? What does that say?

Replacement for OMNIE Room Sensor 12Vdc (4 Core, believed to be ModBus RS485)

If the damage was caused by the plug/socket melting, it’s not impossible that the actual sensor board is OK. Have you tried dismantling it, to look at the board?

Reinforcing the base of divan bed drawers

Depending on what you store, you could fit a timber front-to-back inside the drawer, dividing it into two compartments.

    Eventually, but not imminently.

    Insulating my ancient living room

Insulation, plasterboard and radiator pipes fitted: Panelling, using old floorboards, behind where the radiator will go: Stained white and oiled, like the other one; grain is raised again, hmm: And radiator fitted: Soon I'll be able to get someone to fit the new boiler - that's the...

adding a 3rd switch to controllight

Yes - though you need to check the labelling of the terminals on the intermediate switch. (Earth to new switch too, obviously.)

It needs to intercept the wires shown as yellow and blue in your diagram.

Storing glyphosphate in van and spraying it

I guess the PlantNet app can identify it for you? I think it’s a horsetail. It’s a primitive plant, more like a fern in its biology than a flowering seed-bearing plant. I am not surprised that it is resistant to glyphosate. As I’ve said before - have you tried pulling it up? This should help...

    50mm Cavity Wall Insulation

Since no-one else has said it: yes, on the raw numbers, 40mm of PIR is better-insulating than 50mm of mineral wool. (By about 30% I think, so it's not insignificant.) But as noted above there are other considerations, i.e. the difficulty of getting an unbroken layer of PIR.

    Sap and knots

It’s a filler where you mix two components together. One is a “hardener” that is a catalyst that starts the reaction that makes it solidify. Example: “Everbuild 2-Part Wood Filler”.

Plantnet is free, and amazingly good IMO.

    Insulating my ancient living room

My first job after the new sill was installed was to fit an outside tap and socket: These outside sockets are amazingly badly designed. As reported by about a thousand screwfix reviews, the socket is off-centre because of the switch, but the waterproof flex outlet is central. No plug with any...

How to tee into 14mm copper pipe which won't budge (without soldering)

Soldering is not particularly difficult; watch a few videos and practice on some scrap. Honestly I find it harder to judge if I've tightened a compression fitting correctly.

carpet too short how much will it stretch

That’s only 1%; I’d be surprised if you can’t stretch it that much. Not that I’ve ever tried.

    Tapered plasterboard?

How non-level is it currently? Typically, I think battens are unusual in this situation. Where you have two tapered edges, you normally use skrim tape. Use paper tape where you have a non-tapered joint.

Radiator replacement - should we go for higher BTU than needed?

Does the existing radiator keep the room warm enough? What is its output? (Measure it, and find a similar new one.)
