These are tiny flies. 2-3mm at the most. An Internet search suggests cluster flies are bigger and these might be drain flies. Anyone had and got rid of these?

What does that do?

Can anyone identify this type of fly and advise on how to permanently get rid of them? They're about 2mm long, black or possibly very dark brown. They're appearing on the bathroom window in small numbers every day. They appear to be fixated by the window. If I flick one onto the sill they...

It's already got one on the hose. Possibly hard to see in the photo and maybe not being used correctly.

Am I right thinking this would need a small length of pipe between the trap outlet and the bend inlet???

Could I retro fit that? Presumably it would need an additional 90° bend down into the existing waste pipe.

Do you mean without the silicone? It's not there to prevent odours?

Any good reason why the drain hose would be siliconed into the waste pipe? If there is then is there a neater way to do it? For example, with an adaptor or similar.

They've definitely been removed. I've adjusted the feet and everything is good now.

I went for this option because I had nuts and olives in a bag of spare parts, so it was the quickest, easiest and cheapest option. Worked a treat and I'm very happy with my new taps.

B&Q refunded the trap without any hassle. I ordered the correct part online and fitted it. So far so good (y)

I ripped it open with my hands, so not neat at all :censored: I'll try anyway. You're right about SF/TS not selling the 40mm version. Will have to order online or find a plumber's merchant.

I'll attempt the screen removal as soon as I have time. So much to fix in this flat! :censored:

I was going with the simple replacement option. I happened to be in B&Q and grabbed the 40mm trap without thinking. I've opened the bag, so they might not refund me.

I suspect getting in there with a jet wash will result in a flooded shower room. But given that I don't have one then I won't be trying it.

I'm about to scream very loudly. I've bought and unpacked the mcalpine anti-syphon P trap and it's a completely different shape to the one I've removed. See photos. Section F on the existing trap is wide to accommodate section C 40mm pipe. The equivalent of section F on the new trap is not. £11...
