How's your luck with Premium Bonds?

Sold my 20K & got a 5% ISA that gives £1k a year. I have only been getting £500-740 per year on winnings.

Chasing out depth for cables for rewire

Grey area for electrics. But building regs on a new build is plaster & render should be 15mm thick for fire & sound safety. 25mm oval conduit is 11mm deep & a 4mm plaster cover sounds good.

    Full Rewire Cost Saving?

If they are replacing the incoming main it would be a good time to either fit a new & larger cabinet or think about a new place for the fuse board & meter. With the new smart meters, they are conected to the mobile network & dont think they worry where the meter goes. Always worth a letter or...

    Where’s my electricity going!?

Same as me, but a Citroen C1 @ £20 road tax as i wasn't giving £210 to the robing government car tax again for the jag & the strange thing there is more room in the drivers area in the C1. The other strange thing is around town the C1 is better on fuel, but on a long run the jag was a lot better...

    2-pin adapter

Well done, very unusual to see these adapters with a fuse, many dont & would mean a lot of tooth brushes & shavers backed up buy a 32A fuse & both would lose as they only want a 3A fuse.

    Going EV

Couple of things to look at. Government bringing in a 3p per mile tax on electric in 2027 = £150 per 5000m. Also get some insurance quotes as insurance company's have been hit hard on some claims. Also the cost of a service over 5 years. One last thing is fast electric charging is around the...

Hull isn't so bad after all

When i moved out of London "Good move" i had drawn a line from the wash in the east to Bath in the west & anywhere south of the line & spent 6 months looking for a new house.. Now many areas i could not afford & ended up in Norfolk. Not the most mountains of areas & not the prettiest., but...

    Where’s my electricity going!?

1st look at you old bill & new to see what your tariff is. I'm with this company Goodenergy & pay 24p peak & 6.6p off peak from 12 to 5am. I have a large 2200lt hot water tank & i have that on a timer for 3 hours a night & it takes 3-4kw in total to heat up. So at 4kw it runs about 1h:20m at...

Fitting an isolator between meter and consumer unit.

When you get the new fuse board & if there is room, ask for a board fitted with RCBO's & at least 2 spare fuse ways for any later date.

    2-pin adapter

The reason for many item with 2 pin plugs "read the instructions" is to use them via a bathroom shaver point to prevent electric shocks in these types of rooms/environments with water/dampness present. This type of socket has a safety isolating transformer so it doesn't give out direct electric...

    Adding loft lighting

Not sure if your loft is like my one, but most are brown in colour & i fitted 3x25w led bulbs & the light is perfect. This is a bungalow & the lofts are often larger. I also found the 6000K brighter, but not so warm.
