    I’d put a membrane ontop of the sand too or stuff will grow in it.

    4” of sand would be too thick. I’d leave the slabs and build it up with mot first.

    You could always try your insurance if you think there will be more roots in the longer section. If your insurance appointed contractor unlocked and CCTV’d and found no faults, you would make no claim and incur no cost as far as I understand. If your 4mtr section was 100mm pipe I would guess...

    If you can afford to loose 100mm then a stud wall 50mm off the house wall packed with Rockwool Soundslab would be decent. It would cost about £150/£160 in materials then need a plasterer to skim it.

    Water meter contracting for United Utilities. More money, less hours, no wandering around farms looking for leaks, no 3 hour drives to Birmingham and I don’t have to have the van at home (which I hate) so I can get my Clubsport and have a short commute to my new yard :)
