2 gang 2 way switch trouble

Thanks, the right switch with black core in COM is working fine, it’s the left switch which controls floor 2 which is causing the issue, I’ve attached a (poor) photo but it’s the left side which is the issue (COM is at top)

2 gang 2 way switch trouble

Just tried swapping the L2 red and COM red and it stopped the floor 2 light working altogether, swapped them back now, at this point not sure if there’s anything else I can try? May be time to accept defeat and call an electrician

2 gang 2 way switch trouble

Hello thanks all, yes floor 2 switch was working fine before and I’m certain all the other wires are back where they started, it’s just the two loose reds but I’ve tried them in the L1s in different combinations but nothing works. Obviously the circuit is being broken to floor 2 light when...

2 gang 2 way switch trouble

Thanks. The two loose wires were both reds which are in the L1s, the Red that is in the COM was definitely in there before, which is why im confused. Yes very good point re earthing. Will make sure this is done if manage to get it sorted and swapped (original plastic faceplate is back on currently)

2 gang 2 way switch trouble

Hello, I’m current replacing the 1 and 2 gang switches at home with new faceplates. I’ve come to replace the last one (floor 1 hall hallway) and had some problems. As I took the old switch off two wires were loose. One of the L2 blocks had the connector screw fall out as I removed it (starred...

Base paint for problem utility walls

That’s a good point, yes I think it is part of an extension, so one of the walls is external and two others were, but are now internal if that makes sense.

Base paint for problem utility walls

All of the walls are internal (it’s an old terrace). There’s a lot of backing paper in the property so assumed damp has been/ is an issue

Base paint for problem utility walls

Hi, I’ve recently painted my utility and whilst painting I found out there was backing paper behind (as when using the roller a big piece came off). I’ve filled where that was and repainted but it shows quite badly as a patch. There’s also patches in lots of places and some ‘cracks’ plus an area...

    Boxing pipework under radiator

Hi all, I’ve had a radiator replaced and it’s exposed the pipework. The floor is tiled and it was tiled up to original boxing. Ideally would like to do this without having to remove radiator. Would it be best to try and slot in the gap where tiles end or for the box to sit over the tiles. I’d...

Visonic Powermax - low PIR battery

Had to change panel and siren battery 2 months after moved in Nov 17 (just unlucky I guess). Then had to replace panel battery again in Nov 18. I actually queried this with installer but said it can happen. I can't see anything about a sub engineer code, just user and installer.

Visonic Powermax - low PIR battery

Morning all, I've had a couple of PIR low battery 'Trouble' notifications of late. Replaced both without any issue. However my living room sensor is displaying the low battery warning on the panel again (only replaced about 3 weeks ago). It's not the battery as have tried swapping with...

Unvented cylinder install - how to notify building control

I have emailed them, but they are only open 9-5 mon-fri so will have to wait a few days. The cylinder manufacturer is Telford, so they don't make boilers so not sure if they would notify.

Unvented cylinder install - how to notify building control

He has registered the cylinder with the manufacturer for warranty and as part of that they have to put in the G3 number so something is out of place. I'll have to get back to him in the first instance. Hopefully he will have a good explanation!

Unvented cylinder install - how to notify building control

Yep I can see it on yours - ive checked my installers and it isn't on there. Have I been sold up the river here? If it isn't listed there does that mean they definitely aren't accredited to install unvented? He really did not strike me as the sort of person to lie about this sort of thing...

Unvented cylinder install - how to notify building control

Just an update, I have had another look on the gas safe register where you can check the register. When I filtered for unvented cylinders my installer doesn't appear. Now I am worried that they aren't actually accredited to install an unvented cylinder, despite their assurance they are G3...
