(Cavity closure) Is this acceptable to pass building regs (Ed)

My BCO was very happy to see my cavities closed with blockwork in the opening for my patio doors. Just make sure damp proofing & insulation is covered as mentioned above.

party wall act am in deep trouble (Ed.)

Surely the only issue with not following the PWA is that he could claim any future damage to his wall (subsidence) was yours to rectify, if it was proven your work was the cause of the issue? Firstly he’s got to identify an issue with the wall that occured after your work. Then it has to be...

A bigger plan? You have far too much faith in the man.

    Why still cavity walls ?

At the very least you’ve got to hack off the render / pull off the cladding on the external reveal to get the old window out. I don’t know if they return the insulation into the reveal as well - possibly to prevent cold bridging

    Trump defamation settlement (Ed.)

Because it’s all about winning cool points on the internet. It’s not about Trump, it’s about being right on the semantics. Trump isn’t a *convicted* rapist; hence my point earlier about needing a comma. Trump isn’t a convicted felon and (convicted) rapist Trump is a convicted felon, and a...

    Trump defamation settlement (Ed.)

I’d be a little surprised as I hope that my attitude to women is considerably more respectful than Trump has shown his to be. Well I’d have as much oppurtinity to give my side of the story to the Jury as the other party. And there’s a strict process for juror selection to ensure a fair trial...

Does a comma help? Convicted felon, and rapist.

Single storey extension eaves height and planning permission

Once he’d received a copy of my (self certified) build over agreement, my BCO has been similarly relaxed. As long as everything mmets Part H he’s happy. I too pushed my foundations out to be slightly less than 500mm from the manhole, but all he cared about was the foundation depth being below...

    Water company build over agreements

I’d be suprised if you needed a build over for a patio or shed - it’s unlikely to affect a sewer or lateral drain. Welsh Water specify a need for an extension, annexe, conservatory or garage. If the Water Authority did need to access the pipework the cost to re-instate is minimal.

    Looking like it’s Trump.

It was down 0.5% the day after the general election. A damning indictment of the Labour win. Or just the general fluctations of an index, it’s difficult to decide.

    Budget

It’s not so much the price rise (a little inflation in most things is seen as good) but the rate of the rises that it fuels. i can’t quote peer reviewed evidence, but let me give an example from an area I know, Salcome, Devon. Salcombe has become a tourist hotspot, and fights with Sandbanks...

    Lintel or not?

If it had just been 2 courses of bricks you might have got away with it - although it wouldn’t be right. With the roof trusses sitting above as well, I’d be wanting a lintel.

    BBC news Black out

It’s not censored, it’s been prioritised. With only so much space on the home page, and with the Editors deeming other stories more important, it has been given a space on an alternative (appropriate) page. If it had been censored it wouldn’t be on the BBC at all.
