    Sometimes you can get onto the old cast iron soil inside... Sometimes you have to do it outside and run a new 4" soil through the wall to the pan.

    Water supplier only responsible for upstream of meter outlet. Outlet side downstream is bill payer's responsibility. He would have seen meter spinning and with no usage in the property, this indicates a leak... Could just be a toilet letting by into the pan... Check back of bowl in all wcs...

    Just call a plumber and say you want a stopcock replaced with a lever valve - better in the long run.

    How's that going to work then? Because you need a backing nut on the other side that will fit the thread on the dump valve AND cover the 2.5" hole in the cistern! Should have just gone and bought yourself a bog-in-a-box and had less hassle!

    Once cured you can trim that back for neatness and it'll still be good.

    Flue has to last the lifespan of the (new) boiler. If existing flue is boxed in, are there hatches so it can be inspected at each joint? How was the leak not noticed before it got to that state?
