Size the radiators for a DT30 rather than DT50

Did you open the lockshield valves fully? If so turn all the upstairs radiator lockshields to be open a 1/4 turn from closed.

Shelly have a number of sensors that can be used with their switches. Off the top of my head they have motion, temperature, humidity, door/window and light sensors that can all be integrated with Alexa.

Your gas usage for Sept 2024 looks extremely low. I live in a similar size house to you and my gas usage is around 500kWh in September. How are you measuring gas usage and how are you dividing the usage between heating and hot water?

The hive is wireless so he needs to link the old thermostat wires.

Disconnect the room stat cable in the wiring centre and add a link between the terminals that the red and yellow were connected.

Shelly can do that with a schedule. I use the devices to control a couple of electric panel heaters.

That’s not “smart” heating, it’s just remote control of a switch.

Have a look at the Shelly 1PM or the Shelly 1PM Mini, both operate over WiFi to a phone app and can be hidden inside a backbox.

So you have a Tado "smart" heating system, are all the TRV's Tado as well? If they are then any Tado TRV should be able to turn on the boiler but if the 2 TRV's upsatairs are normal TRV's then they wont turn the boiler on.

What make of smart TRV are they?

Another thought…… don’t install an S plan, have a PDHW system with a diverter valve.

As said above a 30kw system boiler is way over sized for the majority of homes. What is the heat loss of the property, that is what determines the size of boiler. As also already said if you go with Vaillant or Worcester then use their controls. You can use standard TRV’s or so called smart...

I suspect someone has used the CPC as a switched live that was connected to the NO connection but check where the CPC goes to before reconnecting it. If my suspicion is correct you could get the boiler to fire by adding a link between COM and NO so at least you will have heating but without...
