Battle of the thermostat: The science behind your central heating arguments.

Replacing all your existing TRV’s with Wiser TRV’s will be an improvement on what you have now but at a cost. I’m not a fan of micro zoning and have replaced most of my Wiser TRV’s with manual TRV’s to act as temperature limiters. I think you have two distinct areas heated from a single heat...

Drayton Wiser TRV head out of range, what are the options?

Fortunately I use Home Assistant to manage the heating so not much use for the app. HA really shows the app for what it is, I.e not great.

Drayton Wiser TRV head out of range, what are the options?

It is ridiculous how expensive the Wiser smart plugs are (even though they arent just smart plugs) but its a closed zigbee sysem so we have no choice. Have you had the recent Wiser Home app v7 update yet? Its very different to the previous versions, I'm undecided about the new home screen.

Drayton Wiser TRV head No Signal now what?

The Wiser TRV’s and room thermostats do not act as zigbee relays, you need a mains powered device to act as a relay (Wiser smart plug or electrical heat switch for example). The Wiser zigbee network can not be combined with another zigbee network.

New Vaillant install - are the Vaillant controls worth it?

If your friend replaces the Vaillant controls with Hive it will be a big downgrade. Have a look at what Hive can do, it’s not much other than turn the boiler and on and off.

Smart TRV's, advice on set up

Are you planning on keeping the existing boiler controls and just installing “smart” TRV’s to act like standard TRV’s?

S-plan or PDHW with replacement system boiler

As I understand it from online posts it can be a right pain in the a*** to get DHWP to work with Viessman boilers due to the demand box requirement. There is a good thread on the Buildhub forum.

Dual heating control setup - Honeywell Evohome plus another brand for smart TRVs?

How well insulated are your rooms? Heating individual rooms can make the heating less efficient as the cost to heat one room is not necessarily cheaper than heating multiple rooms. Unless the unheated rooms are very well insulated they will just suck the warmth from the heated rooms resulting in...

Method or madness in this CH installation?

The diverter valve I can understand, I thought the OP was talking about a motorised valve as in a Y plan system.

Method or madness in this CH installation?

What’s the purpose of the 3 port valve, Combi boilers don’t normally have motorised valves at all.

Trv valve off but radiator not cooling down

Maybe a silly question but you are turning them clockwise to turn off?
