Well yes have already had someone else here say replace whole bath even tho it's in good condition, with one that has taps at end so accessible. With moving pipework as well it seems an unnecessary fix and ecologically unsound to send a perfectly good bath to landfill but I hear what you're saying

Sorry no, tho tenants tell me in the past the wood floor beneath has been "soaked in mould" - I'm guessing they managed to clean it off. This time they are saying there are parts they can't reach to clean, and a worse smell

I assume the photos shown are after it has moved again and not after any re -sealing

But most of what I'm asking them to do isn't plumbing is it? Taking the bath out replacing the frame fixing it back securely? Sealing.The only bit that is plumbing is removing the taps and bath waste and putting those back ? Or do you think I'd be better getting a plumber to do this?

Thanks a lot. In a different property I've used this one which can be set to only turn on at higher speed 5min after light switch so if you pop into bathroom briefly to use the loo it doesn't turn on so doesn't annoy, and is on continuously at low speed and not really audible...

No intention to bodge it, definitely won't attempt DIY it myself, will get a proper installer to do the job, was just asking for expert opinions here on remedies. The smell is mould from the wooden frame (and maybe below), the bath apparently moves slightly when they get in, which then leads...

That's the cheapest possible bath from wickes, and doesn't include the bath panels. Doesn't compare with the double ended bath in place. Supposing we ignore that and the panels are cheap, so bath plus panels is say 200. Then another say 90 to move the pipework and at least 50 to dispose of old...

Thanks certainly considering replacing the taps while taking bath out. But as a new bath will be 350, and moving pipework will add more, plus cost to dispose of old bath, I'm not sure why you are suggesting replacing a bath which is in good condition unnecessarily. How often do you replace...

As my tenants have commented,bath moves when they get in which is causing or contributing to leaks and mouldy wood below. After bath removed new frame and put back it will all need re sealing

Thanks yes was wondering whether to tiles under the bath as well (or cover with some lino tiles I have spare from another job) to help protect the wooden floor too, as will be taking the bath up anyway. Worth doing?

Not entirely sure. Floor next to bath is tiled but tenants tell me under bath is wood and was previously "soaked in mould". It might be originally floorboards or hopefully is ply used to level the floor before tiling. Will know how bad damage to floor is when bath taken up

Yes am expecting the bath to need taking out and replacing existing supports as these clearly now failing. My original question was about using alternatives to wood. The bathroom is fairly small it does have a window but doubt the tenants use it and an extractor fan but those will only ever do...

Thanks and yet there is and it has become mouldy weaker and needs replacing. Except that it is cheaper I don't see any benefit to wood vs plastic/steel supports and it seems a small saving when compared with overall cost of bath installation.
