    I think the first EPDM-lined brake hoses were tried in the 1950s? Certainly they were common by the 1960s. Without doubt they absorb less water than rubber, but they do still absorb water!

    Exhaust longevity is as much to do with lower suplphur fuel as anything else. It creates less sulphuric acid.

    More often a sticker these days. It should have "R134a" on it, for a car of that age, and then the weight of gas in the system. They've all been on a new refrigerant with a vastly lower global warming potential than R134a for about 10 years now though. (R1234YF).

    Tends to come in through the flexible hoses. They're slightly permeable to water. Also the piston seals which are designed to resist pressure from the inside, but can let a bit past, going the other way.
