Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

It's possible, but he was very tight-lipped about how he sorted the air-lock, which is understandable, 'trade secrets' & so forth.

Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

Thanks. This is ridiculous, but, if I have to call Bournemouth out again (likely) I will ask if I can measure & photograph that T key. Them I can take the photo to a plumber's merchant & get them to ID it. Then I can source one. Omg, & we are supposed to survive a nuclear strike.

Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

Thanks. I'm with Homeserve - they simply do not possess those keys. I asked them why, & they said 'Because they are Bournemouth keys, not HS keys' :-| Recently, I called out an independent plumber in an emergency, he had the proper key, long slender silver one, with T top. That meter point had...

Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

The sink unit was here when I arrived 10 years ago - today's plumber verified that that is indeed the main isolating tap, it will eventually be replaced.

Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

Thanks. Have not got the wrench-key needed for the pavement, external meter service cover. No plumber yet has managed to turn the mains off, from this tap (10 years). They all head for the roadside point.

Which are the keys for turning the water on & off please? They are slender, long, silver (steel), with a 'T' top, thanks.

Bournemouth area - roadside stop cock / water meter key?

Hi, There are a number of water keys out there for sale. Can anyone identify the exact water meter key for the Bournemouth UK area please? They are long, silver, & with a 'T' head. I've also seen a heavier blue type being used, on the same meter, but the silver one seems to be the basic key...

    Air-lock?

I'll report it to Homeserve, but I'll need to do it on Chat, because their report page is useless, & forces you to opt for blunt categories, which never exactly match what you want to claim for. Chat is the only way to describe any issue in detail. I need two claims, one for the cistern, & one...

    Air-lock?

I need to report it. But I also need to ask for a new stop-cock. Whether the old is turn-able, or not, it is over 50 years old, & controls the water, so needs to be overhauled ~ which means it needs replacing. I take that that the plumbers were probably mistaken about the water softener? It is...

    Air-lock?

I put this loo paper at the back of the bowl & it went damp. The loo had not been used.

    Air-lock?

Thanks. Might as well leave it til the next call-out, then. Considered getting a plumber round to give it the once-over, but then there's the call-out fee, & so forth. Waste of money if the tap is OK, or that they identify it - & have to fix it - next time round?

    Air-lock?

Hi, I take it that this is the offending stop-cock? Have lived here 10 years & no-one has ever been able to spot it - they all head for the water-meter point at the roadside, to switch the mains off from there. The cock on that was faulty as well, last time the plumbers couldn't turn the water...

    Air-lock?

That is helpful - thank you - plumbing is a mystery to me, I'm here to learn. Btw, there have been multiple scenarios since I moved here, for the property to be isolated from the mains water. Not one plumber / engineer has ever been able to locate the stop-cock under the sink. They all head for...

    Air-lock?

Yes, I have the same. Water tank in the roof, cold water from the mains. However, there is an immersion tank in the airing cupboard, I do not understand the relation of the immersion tank, to the water tank above it, in the roof. The immersion tank has an element, which is never turned on...

    Air-lock?

They were definitely popping their own hoses on & off taps, presumably hoping to clear an air-lock? Prior to this, they were pointing a finger of blame at the water-softener, saying it was probably not working. So, silt in the pipework. But I said I fill the softener regularly, & it dissolves...

    Air-lock?

But if you look at the photo, the white hose must have been taken off the mains pipe, coming off the floor
