IMO there has to be a compromise between kids not wanting to care for aged parents (as is done in some countries), but wanting to get hold their assets, like a £1m house etc when they die, on the one hand, and the state grabbing a big chunk of the assets to fund old age care on the other.

Are they needed for stainless steel mains-pressure HW cylinders (with primary coil and immersion)? I've not seen anything about that, not that I've had much to do with them. On the subject of (10 year) guarantee, I believe it has to be internally inspected annually, which hardly anybody does.

OK, I suppose the cylinder is stainless steel. Had a quick google, but info on Ariston cylinders didn't jump out! Does that apply to all the connections? I'd bet plenty of SS cylinders have been installed with all metal fittings and pipework.

What's the significance of dielectric? Is it to stop any electrical path between the tank and the pipework, though I can't see why that would be be a problem. Can you use a brass fitting instead?
