    Lollipop

As I said, a lollipop circuit can be designed to be compliant. The silly thing is that if one called the 'feed cable' ('stick of lollipop') a 'distribution circuit' and put an OPD at the end of it (even if that OPD was essentially redundant), hence effectively creating a sub-main with a...

    Lollipop

...here, provided that it is designed correctly, there is absolutely nothing in BS7671 which prevents (let alone forbids) one having a 'lollipop' circuit. Where I think there is scope for debate/discussion/uncertainty is in relation to the question of whether or not such a circuit can enjoy the...

    Lollipop

Got involved with another Lolipop circuit discussion this morning. It's a lab with E stops (and other devices) added everywhere to control the ring with a contactor in an enclosure fed by 15m of 6mm² radial. Inspector insisted the ring can't be fed by a contactor/radial. Found this useful link...

    Cpc size on unfused spur

I don't know about 'becoming fashionable'. I inherited two of those (well, probably the imperial equivalents) 30 years ago, and one of them (because it was conveniently located) still feeds a 'lollipop' circuit in my cellar! Kind Regards, John

    EICR - please advise

...acceptable :-) Of course, there are other bits of 433.1 which would enable one to design a perfectly compliant circuit of any configuration (including a ring, figure-of-8, lollipop, radial or whatever) using an OPD <30A, but that might not convince some of the Jobsworths! Kind Regards, John

    Weird Kitchen circuit

Thanks for the reply, Lollipop :D. Ideally I would of liked to keep the ring in 2.5mm (have quite a bit :)) But yeah if you think it would be better as a 4mm radial, then that's ok too. Regarding the junction box, I was going to put a newer connection box somewhere up near the Hood, not to...

    Weird Kitchen circuit

No problem with the circuit cable sizes or configuration. We call it a lollipop. The zones are not satisfactory. If you have to redo it, you could use 4 mm² T&E and make it a radial circuit. Various configurations could be used. I show one example. 1.5mm² would do for the fan. Care should be...

...in 1971, got married, had three children and worked for the local council for more than 25 years as a dinner lady, meals on wheels driver, lollipop lady and cleaner. A spinal injury a few years ago meant she had to give up her job, leading her to apply for benefits for the first time. In...

Kitchen electrics - illuminated switches question

It was I. You wouldn't tell John what you meant, so, perhaps you would tell me what relevance the circuit design has - OR what you think a lollipop is in this context.

Not a problem with lollipops It would allow someone else to instantly turn it off

    Gangs to close any ideas?

...words (if they are, perhaps, now embarrassing you) are preserved for ever in my posted quote of them. However, if you really do feel that "lollipop" circuits offer a good solution to the issue being discussed, I would genuinely like to understand what you are suggesting. Kind Regards, John

deleted because you say they are irrelevant to this topic

    Gangs to close any ideas?

Can you perhaps elaborate on that? I personally have no problem, per se, with "lollipop" circuits, but don't really see their relevance to the issue being discussed. Kind Regards, John

    Spurring sockets

I see your point, as long as the design will in the main prevent an over load, then no real problem, the same goes for lollipop and figure of 8. However the question is complicated by the fact the installation is in the control of an ordinary person. I a factory when an electrician is in...

Kitchen electrics - illuminated switches question

I can prove I'm not, can you? I think you've been here too long, you are getting to be very nasty man. And now showing your ignorance, just because you can't understand a circuit arrangement doesn't mean it is not allowed.

Kitchen electrics - illuminated switches question

...idiot. Please state the regulation that states that readily accessable local isolators are a requirement. (not a mwhatson nice to have). The so called "Lollipop" arrangements are not accepted methods of providing final circuits. Please read, digest and understand BS7671 before you post again.
