    Fused spur

Yes, that's fine - just make sure you leave some misleading labels on the switches to really confuse future occupants - i.e. "Dungeon Lighting" :)

Anyone still using this style of plumbers bag?

I do have a couple of tool boxes, and storage drawers up in the loft. But for the odd DIY job, I decant the tools into a big blue IKEA bag - it's perfect for lugging around just the tools I need; it's also cheap and robust.

    New floorplan opinions

Only my opinion, and sorry if it sounds negative, but as I've said in one of your previous posts on this matter - I'm afraid you may be putting too much thought and effort into creating a non-ideal solution, that could end up losing you money on your house. Your solution here, would end up...

Missus burnt carpet, can it be repaired?

If the damage isn't too great, it can sometimes be reduced quite acceptably, by cutting off the matted blobs and evening up the pile with some nail scissors.

Breaking out fireplace - can’t find Lintel or Archway

In this case, I agree with @ree It looks to me that you're still finding infill, and an arch may start a couple of courses higher up - similar to this... You may be able to look up, or take a photo from the inside of the fireplace to confirm. But again....

    Wireless Sensor Batteries

I believe the DT detector takes a couple of CR123A and the slim door contact takes CR2450 batteries. They are widely available. Take Screwfix for a start... https://www.screwfix.com/p/gp-batteries-pro-cr123-3v-lithium-battery/405RM...

    Small LED Ceiling Light

    I have the 6W in my 0.85 x 2.00m downstairs loo - it's plenty bright enough.

frizzled Line socket - why is it always L?

That was the implication from the random pictures - nearly all the images I've seen, where the socket damage appears to be around the neutral side, could be explained by poor contact resistance from a sideways mounted fuse in a moulded plug.

frizzled Line socket - why is it always L?

With a couple of examples picked randomly from the forum... The damage may not always be on the line side. However, a loose connection between fuse and carrier, will still likely be to blame...

Wiring new electric boiler to hive

Find a N, L and an E from the boiler to power the Hive. Then connect terminal 1 of the single channel Hive backplate to one of the RT terminals. Connect terminal 3 of the Hive to the other RT terminal. You could use a 5 core flex to connect the two, or two separate cables, one for the power and...

Wiring new electric boiler to hive

I'm afraid not - volt free switching means that the contacts of the switch are free from any voltage supplied to power the switching device. I.e. the single channel Hive is volt free switching - the dual channel is not. The voltage, whether extra low voltage, or mains, is supplied exclusively...

    Small LED Ceiling Light

Beaten to it! I have a couple - nicely made, look good with the additional bezels and seemingly reliable. They clip onto a ceiling bracket, but do come with a short length (approx 6") of two core flex, that will need attaching in a manner similar to what you have said above. ...and just to say...

Nest 3rd gen heat link tripping the electric.

Yes, that's the RCD that has tripped. Due to the nature of how the Nest is made, it is extremely unlikely to be the problem. Your system seemed to be an S-Plan from your last posts? Again, I suspect a problem further down the line, i.e. a powered valve or the pump - something of mains voltage...

Nest 3rd gen heat link tripping the electric.

What exactly is tripping - is it an RCD, or MCB? Can you show us a picture? Is this the same Danesmore 20/25 boiler that you had problems with locking out in 2017? The wiring arrangement looks unusual on the Nest (edit: although I may be missing an extra loop into terminal 2), but if it has...

    Honeywell ST6400C to Nest Gen3 -

In post #10, or #15! :) That is exactly how I have suggested your circuit has worked in all the previous posts. The red Wire that now goes to terminal 3 of the heatlink, went to terminal 4 of the ST6400c - heating on.... Take the other yellow Wire from the terminal block (the one that shares...

How do i connect a hive mini to alpha intec 30 boiler?

The FM1 receiver mounted in the OPs boiler, unfortunately doesn't have any physical override switch. With the power safely isolated, join together the red wires going to terminals 3 and 4 of the receiver, in a separate terminal block - that will bridge out the receiver.

    Honeywell ST6400C to Nest Gen3 -

Well, you seemed to have jumped a few steps from what has been suggested! Let's try and confirm a few things before going any further.... I.e. does the red wire from terminal 4, come from the same cable as one of the yellows in the terminal block? If the above can be confirmed, the other...

Has wrong kW rated boiler been fitted

I haven't found the definitive source, but those statistics don't make sense! I believe it is media misinterpretation of the figures. The reports generally quote... But later on say... I'm far more prepared to accept that 80% of boilers sold are combis, than 80% of UK housholds have a combi...
