As above, beg/borrow/steal an off cut of plasterboard. The wire wool suggests that someone thought it might be an entry point for mice. It looks like you have a cable running at a jaunty angle in the metal trunking.

Paint applying unevenly / separating out when using a roller on an interior wall

I am a decorator. I am inclined to think that you have a "suction" problem, but I am only guessing. When bare plaster walls are painted with a dilute coat of "regular" emulsion, the extra water in the paint allows the paint to soak into the very porous plaster. Ideally, if the water levels are...

    Exterior Paint already failing

Sorry, when I recommended OB1, I thought you were talking about where the panel meets the door. The crack in the middle of the panel will, potentially, always be problematic. Faced with those kind of cracks, I normally use an epoxy resin such as the flexible 1 hour resin by Oxera...

    Internal wall reverse Z bulge

So it is a relatively new build? Most of my work is victorian houses. I am a decorator rather than a builder, they have solid 9" walls. Please let us know how you get get on. Best of luck.

    Nut/Bolt Type.

Yes, they look like a cam lock. I have only worked with them once. I had to lock an Iroko worktop to an Iroko end panel ( both 2" thick) I used ones from Screwfix but had to do many mockups first. Initially, I tried using a spade bit to drill the hole for the receiver. The hole was not...

    Internal wall reverse Z bulge

Assuming that the ridge is new, the plaster has cracked. Lining paper is pretty good at dealing with minor cracks. When they get bigger, the paper will split.

New doors fitted ..Have they been bodged ???

Image #2 the gap directly above the handle looks iffy. It doesn't seem to be constant. it might be a trick of light in the photo, but the lock edge of the door doesn't look straight. How did they deal with the reverse side of that door? I guess they had to add a new door stop. Other than...

    Routing bullnose

I normally use my 1/2" router with those kind of bits. I do a full pass and then a reverse pass to reduce any "chatter". But there is no harm in doing multiple passes if you prefer.

Liner for a wood burn stove.

I don't know if it is a legal requirement. I have a few friends with them. They had liners fitted to reduce the risk of the victorian chimneys catching fire. Not my area of expertise, but I suspect that the exhaust from the wood burners is significantly hotter than an open fire. None of my...

    Internal wall reverse Z bulge

Difficult to say from here. If you are lucky it might be possible to lock the blown plaster in place (assuming that it is blown and bouncing). If there is no bounce at all, you might be able to get away with feathering the ridge with a soft filler such as Red Devil OneTime. If it is very...

Can you buy Purdy soft paintbrushes

Emulsion is relatively thick. You don't want a brush that is too soft.

    Internal wall reverse Z bulge

It looks like the plaster has cracked and may be slightly blown. If you tap the area, does it sound more hollow than the surrounding areas? BTW the wall has been lined (horizontally).

    Triple shower valve replacement problem.

As above, photos will help. Are the knobs 3 part, ie, a collar which slides into the plate, then the part that screws into the thermostatic valve and finally a crown that sits on top?

    kitchen worktop repair

You can add some black acrylic paint to a tiny bit of 2 pack filler. Edit- pretty much what @foxhole said, the difference being that the filler will be black and won't need a touch up.

Need help on my awful patchy wall

If you are concerned about the differences in the sheen levels, just paint. If you want to reduce the depth of the brush marks, you will need a light sand with 180 grit sandpaper.

Need help on my awful patchy wall

If you absolutely do not want to use a roller, either thin the paint or use an additive such as Floetrol to help you maintain a wet edge.

Best way to fill this gap around patio door

Mist the area with water and then squirt in expanding foam. Once cured, cut away the excess and then use filler. The water aids adhesion and accelerates the curing time of the foam.

    Hangovers

Hangovers are God's way of telling you that you are not drinking enough on a regular basis... In my late 30's I started to experience 2 day hangovers. I couldn't even drink my way through them. If I had to paint skirting boards, leaning forward would hurt. I literally had to lay on the floor...

Using gypsum with lime plaster wall

Not my area of expertise, but those look like cinder blocks. They were made out of "slag" from coal mining. Until recently, I lived in a 50's property. The walls were cinder block but they were internally skimmed with an incredibly hard cement finish (presumably because the blocks are so...
