Indeed, I do not know. I wondered if there might be some kind of official definition of a 'new' circuit, as opposed 'repaired', 'replaced', 'altered', etc., or if those of you with the experience may lean more one way than the other. But actually, whether 'new' circuit or not, and so notifiable...

I had assumed (rightly or wrongly) that a re-connection of a cable into the consumer unit would be straightforward, with no regulations issues, as there was a hob connection there before, with 32A MCB and the shared RCD protection. To expand a little, the original 6mm cable was however changed...

I was thinking that might be a way to do it, for that very reason.

Well, it was going to a 32A, but connection at CU has been disconnected (didn't even realise, but must have been disconnected when electricians were round doing some new cabling a while back), so could be reconnected to whatever MCB size is best - 16A, 20A, ... ?

Back to that 5 core cable, just noticed this circuit diagram in the manual: Are you really supposed to re-do the separate Lives and Neutrals, and crimp them together as shown, before fixing into the cooker outlet plate !?? Or just put each pair, unjoined just as the 5 core cable was supplied...

Perhaps, but if the supply cable is already there, what would be the appropriate thing to do? Just use the official hob cable (which obviously must be suitable to feed the 7.4kW hob), even if it has much lower CSA conductors??
