Extension shell, how to finish internal PVC window?

ok I have cleared the mortar that was holding the side closers too far out and used no nails to stick them to the blockwork. I put some timbers on top of them and wedged other timbers horizontal against them to force them back hard against the blocks while the adhesive went off, so they look...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

It would have been fairly easy work to cut the boxes/conduit back into the soft block but I would have worried that I had taken so much material away with the chases that the already soft structure of these modern blocks could be compromised by so many chases in such a small area. As to the...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

Yep sure is Roy, plain sand/cement 1960's render not coloured but extremly hard. Nobody enjoys trying to clip cables down it. Not looking quite so red these days as when first done. Durite Canterbury Spar a red / white / black / grey angular flint. The spread is not sure he can...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

Thats 6mm into a 45amp switch then on to an oven terminal in a tall unit. 6mm doesnt like tight bends, but it has to right angle somewhere along the run. Below it is the switched (next to oven sw) under counter appliances radial. I did want to leave the lower part of the wall clear for hot...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

I used to be an industrial sparks before retirement and there everything had to be either armoured or in conduit/trunking or sure as little acorns someone would damage a cable. At risk of ridicule here is part of my kitchen wiring awaiting a spread  Although its been more...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

To keep the currents from falling out.. Or maybe it was me not trusting the plaster's trowel to keep from nicking my cables.

Extension shell, how to finish internal PVC window?

Thanks noseall, the room is being hardwalled, no plasterboard on the walls, except maybe around the window now ;-) I think as you suggested the mortar snots were not removed as the manky old closer they fitted sits proud of the inner blockwork in places. Not sure I can remove these now either...

Extension shell, how to finish internal PVC window?

The window has been fitted and finished outside, but all I have inside is 2 vertical cavity closers which dont fit well, convexed where they fit into the cavity & nothing where a sill would be. The room (kitchen) is due to be plastered next week, so before then I would like to get this...

    Hardwall over bright nails?

Thanks again, I only raised the question of black bitumen paint just in case it was known to have a reaction with hardwall :) The rest of the capping is now fitted with 1 1/2" galv nails and I even experimented with no nails

    Hardwall over bright nails?

I put some electrical capping on my wall with bright nails, didnt have any galv ones at the time. The walls due to be plastered next week, are the bright nails likely to rust and affect the plaster finish? Plaster will be around 15-18mm thick to finish coat.

6mm t&e circuit design max current?

So is it not possible to give a current capacity for this cable run? Its less than 47amps but is it less than 32amps. How would you work it out?

6mm t&e circuit design max current?

Perhaps I didnt word that well, I meant it to mean we only usually really had 2 methods to use in the calc, either clipped direct or enclosed which would affect the current capacity of the cable.

6mm t&e circuit design max current?

Thanks, the cable is already selected and installed, so its a bit of a retrospective design. I was taught many years ago not to over fill the trunking or it would derate the current capacity of the cables enclosed, thats why I gave the info that the spacing factor had not been exceeded. So...

6mm t&e circuit design max current?

No insulation involved at all. House wiring cable Conductor temperature 70°C max Space factor of 45% in mini trunking not exceeded. Cables in 40x40 trunking are 2 x 6mm, 3 x 2.5mm and 2 x 1.5mm. Area of cables 385, avalable area is 1300 so 45% would be 585 max. The tray has many...

6mm t&e circuit design max current?

I have quite a long run of 6mm twin & earth that I need to work out the max current capacity for. From CU its 7mtr clipped on open tray with other cables, then 3mtr in 40x40 plastic trunking (space factor observed) then 3mtr clipped direct to joists, the last 3mtr is under capping at plaster...

Which kitchen units on a budget

Well at last I have a final final design :) I had a design using shaker oak done at B&Q and with the 15% off it came to £1190 with some extra drawers, worktops and all the odds and ends that come with worktops. I then took my quote into Homebase as they have a price matching promise. They...

Which kitchen units on a budget

ColJack and any others following this thread who may need Tbar handles, I checked my order with Toolstation only to find they have just about run out of the handles I wanted so couldnt supply the total amount, I cancelled that order and went looking elseware. I found that Buller ltd have been...

Which kitchen units on a budget

I'm going for 2 different sizes of handle, 160 and 280mm got them from Toolstation with free delivery over £10. http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Hardware/Stainless+Handles/d170/sd2832 I think add another 70mm or so for total length as the sizes are for fix centers. If they dont have what...

Which kitchen units on a budget

I've not spec'd a dishwasher yet, but was allowing for one knowing the family have it in mind. I am plumbing and wiring for one in that position. I realise that 1.5 sink may be pushing it in 600mm but no doubt B&Q will let me know for sure when I get my design appointment. I was told the...
