    Cat5 what router?

Probably either bad crimping or incorrect connection. Can't believe cable type will make any difference.

    Cat5 what router?

Shouldn't this be the WAN or Internet port?

Toaster fire: user or appliance at fault?

Your theory is most probably correct. There is nothing in a clean toaster to catch fire. It is only the crumbs that are flammable. It my case the crumbs are first noticed when the RCD trips.

Yellow artic cable for external lighting can be used?

It's hard to see where the name Arctic comes from in this case. But all the Arctic cables I found when I looked it up were to BS6500. Edited for spelling.

Yellow artic cable for external lighting can be used?

Um - I was looking at arctic cable to BS6500. It takes 300/500V; but don't install or handle below 5ºC.

Yellow artic cable for external lighting can be used?

...so it says 'installed and handled' (not 'used') down to plus 5ºC. So not very suitable for a building site, but fine in a domestic environment. What a strange standard!

    Electrics under kitchen sink?

We've had three leaks in our house. Two from the hot tank, and one from the upstairs toilet water inlet, down and along its pipe, along the ceiling, down a conduit into a socket in the utility room. Never under the sink.

    Bathroom Extractor Fan Not Working

I'm a bit surprised by this statement. It may detect voltage, but it certainly won't detect whether the wires have come loose, or whether there both wires are connected elsewhere. It is very likely to give meaningless results, being basically a neon screwdriver.

    Cat5 what router?

Just to be clear; an area of 50 m² means a range of 4 metres. Technical expert chosen for scamming talent.

Why are 5watt LED GU10 / MR16 bulbs still only F or G energy rated?

Exactly that. Since the original system, lamps efficiency just got better by such a large factor that the old system of displaying it couldn't easily be adapted.

Why are 5watt LED GU10 / MR16 bulbs still only F or G energy rated?

I guess that wouldn't mean so much to the man in the street. I suspect all the information is there to work it out for yourself though.

Welding on a new mains tap handle

Just an FYI. As a total DIY first timer, I bought a freeze kit from Screwfix, and changed my stop cock. The whole process went completely as planned. Just in case, I had a plan B involving a hosepipe going out into the garden with a suitable fitting for the cut end of the incoming pipe, but it...

What's your average single phase measured voltage? Is 251V at point of measurement common?

I was told that a man came to the door a week before the change, counted the house's light bulbs, and handed over the same number of new ones in 240v.

Is there a basin, bath, shower or toilet that you rarely use where the water in the trap may have been blown out by the wind?
