Cheers for the replies. We thought a typo too but got in touch with the contractor and they assured us it's cat8 they need. The bloke who's house this is going to be is apparently an IT specialist and he's wanting to future proof it! I've been googling it and it does seem to exist but...

We've just been given drawings for a new build. One of the requirements is cat 8 to each room. Anyone got any experience? Struggling to find supplier too. CEF are 'looking in to it for us' :roll:

Now please take this with a pinch of salt, but......... LABC in Scotland are to my experiance much more leniant if you will on the insistance of a building permit in the first instance but if you then require something to be certified you will pay for it through one of their approved...

BAN, i think the labc can request an inspection and test from one of their recommended contractors. Might be wrong though :?

I'm just learning at the min so the boss was the one who suggested the re-wire. We struggled to get any readings at all. Infact the lights were about the only thing that were even remotely safe! Every socket we looked at had melted wires or were burnt out! This was how the house was left...

No idea. Carpets etc were lifted when we went in so not sure if something external burnt it. In saying that every socket had serious problems so who knows. Supply was taken out of house due to the state of it :shock: Recommended a re-wire but client seems to think a couple of new...
