Christmas lights removing the control box

I added a an extra chip to the circuit board on a set of lights that didn't have a memory. Took a bit of farting about to find the right chip to order, then some very fiddly soldering, which I'm not great at. But managed it in the end and they work fine, now have a memory. Not actually got...

Out of interest, how big is the garage, are you building it yourself, is it going to be like a mini portal frame building?

Directing guttering into multiple water butts

The type of plastic IBCs are made out of doesn't take paint well, I've got some black ones, and also clear ones wrapped in dpm and put back inside the cage. You don't say whereabouts you are, but if you keep an eye on gumtree/ebay etc I'm sure you would get a second hand tank cheap/free. I had...

Directing guttering into multiple water butts

I've got various containers that are all either very cheap or free. Drums, IBCs, plastic tanks, steel tanks. You can get them second hand and clean them out. Tanks used previously for heating oil are pretty easy to clean with a pressure washer, even better if it's a hot washer

Directing guttering into multiple water butts

Have you thought about putting in a tank instead? I've got an approx 1200l slimline tank that takes up not much more room than 2 water butts would down the side of a shed

    Screw Size

Make your own mind up, I've used them, they're great Or buy the imperial threads and have to hunt around for longer bolts?

    Screw Size

Zipfix is a brand name by Timco, a british company. Condomounts sounds like your average random amazon knock off brand name? Either way they are selling stuff to US/Canada, so have imperial threads. Don't buy the one with imperial, it will be a pain to get longer bolts

    Screw Size

Look like knock off zip fix? Get the genuine zip fix and they have metric threads (m6), so get some m6 x 100 bolts/set screws, with whatever head you like https://timco.co.uk/24187-zip-fix

Paving slabs for a wooden shed base

If the ground was quite hard anyway you could go for half the amount of material, if it's just for a "garden" shed to store a few tools. You don't need to use cement, I've laid plenty on just sharp sand

Quad bin store - self build

Built a basic one from scrap wood at my brother's house, just to hold the bins in place as it's a bit of wind tunnel. Did it on a saturday morning, knocked a few fenceposts in the ground, horizontal rails, then vertical 20x150 boards, with a slight gap to let the wind through. Put a bit of rope...

    My Sycamore

It's a sycamore, so if you prune it will probably regrow from where it was cut back to, and in a few years time you'll be back to where you are now

    Water butt diverter help

Just run the down pipe straight in to the water butt. Is the butt/barrel going to sit on the decking, and is it strong enough to take the weight? Also worth fitting a better tap, the standard water butt taps tend to be very slow
