Is a Belle Mixer worthwhile over a cheaper brand for DIY projects?

Yes it's an old one but for the money it would be ideal for diy use, it doesn't look in bad shape

    Slabbing an oddly shaped garden

I'm not a designer but I say the opposite. Square with the workshop might make the long thin garden seem even longer and thinner? Square with the house breaks it up a bit?

    Slugs and Beer

That's some good going, but do you not find the beer tastes a bit funny afterwards?

Using dry stone rocks/stones as gravel path edging

I say don't overthink it, it's just a garden path. Put the boulders in, lay the sub base/scalpings, then compact what you can. The downside with using big stones is if you want to cut the grass on the sides, it'll be slower and more fiddly.

I have installed 8 x 30 watt 12v led floods in my garden which are powered directly from a leisure battery but they don't work??

8 x 30 watt led floodlights - is it a football pitch?! Assuming that's the real watts, not Chinese watts.

    Recommend DIY (Budget) Multimeter

I've had a fairly standard digital multimeter for years, more recently got an "Aneng" one off aliexpress, it was silly cheap, only a few quid at the time, with audible continuity and a backlight.

Belle PCX13/40 Wacker Plate - Should I buy for project?

From what I see, the hire companies like to have fresh machines (of all types), they buy them new at the lowest price, make plenty money hiring them, then flog them at say 3-5yrs old whilst they still look presentable. My little 65kg waker was ex-hire a few owners before me, and I've had it...

    Making rugs lay right

They would never really say where they live, I think it's down south somewhere (as in central Scotland). There's these del boy characters that travel about the Highlands in an unmarked xlwb van selling "genuine" persian/turkish rugs. All at "knockdown" prices. They have a list of estate houses...

Belle PCX13/40 Wacker Plate - Should I buy for project?

It's a whacker plate, I imagine a lot of them start out as hire machines, but apart from running it without engine or gear oil, you can't really abuse it. Price doesn't seem a mega bargain, but maybe that's the going rate

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

As above, heat gun, each hole needs a lot of heat, a gas blow torch would be faster if you had one. Cut the slots with a circular saw, or angle grinder if you were really stuck. Sometimes easier to start with a small prybar before the bottle. You want bottles with a tapered neck, I don't drink...

Water seeping through knots in summerhouse log wood

It would be fine if you had the cladding exposed on the inside (like a plain summerhouse/shed). But with having the building lined/insulated it should've been built with an air gap/cavity/breathable membrane. 10k is nothing these days, I know someone who spent that on a yurt+deck, basically a...

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

I never empty any of the water storage. So when it's really cold an ibc will freeze entirely, 1 tonne ice block!

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

You might be able to repair the old water butt with plastic welding, if you wanted?

Confirmation before purchasing materials for decking/pergola roof

What length are the 4x2s spanning? Is it the 4.5m, or is there some support in the middle? If you have a local SIG roofing you could ask them for a price on the sheets, they're part of Steadmans

Name for the spindle a strimmer spool mounts on

Adaptor bolt? https://www.tagstradeuk.co.uk/product-category/strimmer-brushcutter-spares/adaptor-bolts-blade-nuts-strimmer-brushcutter-spares/ I think it would be easier to try and find the right head, than try and find a suitable adaptor, there's so many different sizes, shapes, and threads.

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

So I took another blue drum out of the stockpile today. I normally cut the lids off by taking out one of the bungs, and use that as a start point for the jigsaw to go round the rim. File off any rough edges and try and tip as much plastic dust into the bin as you can. I've got a box of old...

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

I usually get a couple of blue drums per year dropped off at the house from my brother's work, if they didn't come here I think they would go in the skip. I've got one down the garden in use for comfrey fertiliser. Top cut off, no tap, and the top just rests back on with a couple of bricks to...

    How to find suitable fence/gate?

Would be a good job for a local handyman/landscaper type, £50 for materials inc gate fittings/posts, and a day of his time?

Water butt - those 200L ex-commercial barrels question

Here's another use for the drums, you make the 'pockets' by cutting a slot, heating it, ramming a glass bottle in
