Pretty sure the motor is in the roof lining where the cranked handle would be. the front you might see though the interior light.
have a look in the handbook as there is an emergency closure point.

Not sure if you are kent but upto last week
mine each side was supported by 2 8x3" wooden beam from outside wall to internal wall then a 5mm steel plate over them to the stack. between the stack was a wood support
snap thats what i was told fit with silver foil also.
I was told this, ie, 50mm gap, then the insulation, then foil, then 50mm gap then 9mm plaster board, the a 3mm skim. All this is the cold side of the roof!!

If you have it I'd use box or angle fixed to the alcove, just drill through and bolt to the wall.
Fit wood on top and then finish the front off with a trim piece so it covers the frame
