Aligning Shower Arm and Wall Mounted Taps

Avoid Hudson Reed at all costs. Worthless warranty on cheap imported carp. Nasty stuff.

    Help identify new boiler

From the boilers listed, the duotec HE would get my vote followed by the Logic+. Would avoid the Alpha and am indifferent about the Main.

Worcester 28 cdi - no hot water but central heating works.

Did you refit the microswitch head on to the diverter valve properly and is the small plastic disc in place on the end of the spindle on the diverter valve? What happens if you operate the microswitch manually?

Heating not working. Help required to Diagnose

I would love to tell you what is wrong with your boiler because I have seen this one a few times and could bask in the glory of being a smartarr5e - but it really really isn't something you should think about touching as you will not be able to do the job without specialist test equipment and...

Heating not working. Help required to Diagnose

If the pilot has lit and it isn't sparking then you need someone who is gas safe registered and competent with boiler repairs to replace the offending part. Not a DIY job as there are severe consequences if you get it wrong....

Fitting isolation valves in rigid tight pipes

What an ungrateful response. Screwfix is not a plumbers' merchant which is why you have unsuitable valves.. Short of coming around and doing the job for you I cannot see what else can be done to help you.

    Boiler's controls: CH and DHW?

Tell the large gas company to do one and spend your money on someone who actually wants to help you. sounds like a muffed up installation crowned off with a bit of builder plumbing. Those knobs could be doing anything.....

Heating not working. Help required to Diagnose

The valve is 80 notes and I was in and out in less than 40 minutes so 55 labour. Regular and decent customer so they get a discount on labour. Most tradespeople will put an idiot tax on jobs where the customer comes over as pushy or a moaner - not to be spiteful but because these people are...

Heating not working. Help required to Diagnose

OP there may he something about the way you are dealing with your heating engineers over the phone as ths is exactly the kid of job most of them like. Do you live in an area with no parking? That would put me off, and knowing that you had had a fiddle would up the estimate as there may be...

Combi Make & Model - Quote Purposes

I would also propose the Baxi Duotec and the Ideal Logic+ models as the basis for your quotes. Good mid-range boilers that are easy to work on.

    Bathroom renovation - which order?

Don't give up entirely. Tackle a smaller job first and then plan on the bathroom. 1200 for a suite swap is a bit much. Project manage the bathroom by engaging a plasterer and a ceramic tiler. 600 should buy three days of.a plumber's time which is enough for a first and second fix of a suite...

Good replacement for Baxi Solo 3 PF70?

Agree with above. You would be foolish to replace the Solo unless it was beyond repair.

    Bathroom renovation - which order?

Let's hope your plasterer is good else you will be trowelling on buckets of adhesive. I see so many botched tiling jobs i could cry. Flameport gave some great advice. Try some of the smaller jobs before wading right in.

    Bathroom renovation - which order?

You may want to start your foray into the world of diy with something less challenging than a bathroom. They are hard work if you want a professional result. I see countless DIY jobs that are truly horrendous when you look beyond the newness of the fittings. I could weep when I see two grands...

    heating pipes notched under toilet

There are guidelines for notching joists as set out in the building regulations. It is the distance from the end of the joist to the notch, and the depth of the notch that you need to worry about. Someone will probably screw into a pipe under a bog pan when trying to fix the pan to the floor. I...
