Question re kitchen sink pillar tap stiff operation

Are they quarter turn ceramic cartridges or the oldrr compression valve type? Turn off the water and take valve out of tap. Take the head and the valve/cartridge to a decent merchant and get them to supply a new valve or cartridge. Tap valves are about six or seven quid and ceramics around 20...

Ideal Mini C28, occasional hot water issues unless CH is on

You need someone to clean the boiler internals properly. Adding chemicals into a towel radiator is unlikely to do the job. Both heat exchangers need to come out for acid cleaning. You will need new O rings for both exchangers otherwise it will probably leak. Possibly a new diaphragm and a...

Is viessmann really worth that much more ?

One of my customers went for a 35kw viessmann 200 about 5.5 years ago. Some minor issues sorted under warranty. Boxing day he has a house full of visiting family - hears a dull thud from downstairs at 8.00AM and finds the utility room partly flooded. Quality rubber hose on expensive German...

    Replacing an oil boiler

Correct, Mr Rabbit. It will.work fine but won't condense very much. No corrosive condensate will be produced and the boiler may well last longer as a result Don't be drawn in by Worcester marketing. I have an old oil boiler too and will be replacing it with a Hounsfield oil boiler when the...

    Replacing an oil boiler

It will work but the return temperature is likely to be too high for the boiler to be running in condensing mode for long. Boilermates say run boiler at max flow temperature because the store needs to be around 80 degrees to perform fully.

    Fitting new old parts

I think you have just discovered how the Halifux can offer you 'free' breakdown cover that would cost you circa £300 a year from Wilbur the Penguin at British Gas. Brass doesn't rust. A picture would help, please.

Which of these Baths Is the best?

Cheap baths bought over the internet will be nothing but grief. Are you fitting it yourself? It will be flimsy, twisted and give you years of dissatisfaction. Carronite as already mentioned. A decent bath costs 350 and up. £100 baths will be nasty things.

    Vailliant Ecotec pro 28 tubes

This is why you need to spend 60 quid a year having your local independent rgi look after and service your boiler. Insurance cover leaves you with your pants down every time, and you took a spanking this christmas. Busted E/V? replacing the schraeder valve core usually sorts it out for 50p in...
