    More appalling Vaillant customer service

Mike - how many of those Logics have you got at 600 including the flue? Also interested in the radiators at 60 notes each. Does that include the valves?

Council contractor wants to replace conventional boiler with combi

I would suggest that the Combi will be the more expensive install option, and as you are a low user of hot water, you are likely to make a good saving on your energy bills. Vaillant is a decent boiler. I would say go for it. Let us know how you get on.

    Thermocouple wanted

Good choice. Ideal are on the up and I believe that they have some outstanding engineers in Scotland if you do have any issues. I have fitted quite a few and they have performed well. Only just seen this thread - fairly certain I have one of those thermocouples in my stock pile. Will mark...

    Temporarily extending a boiler flue

Go with Tony Agile's advice if you are worried about dirt in the system. Magnacleans are good but cannot work miracles.

    Internal Stop Tap

You may also want the fibre washer that seals the valve headwork to the tap body. Go to a proper merchant and show them the photograph. Or cut in a new tap above the existing one.

Air in CH System & Hot Water

Feed and vent pipes not in the right place and system is pulling in air. Installation error so get installer back. Try turning pump speed down.

    Bosstherm RF thermostat swap?

Honeywell. But I would spend a little more and install Hive 2. Should be diy-able as long as you don't touch the boiler front case. Siemens rf stats are unreliable as are their zone valves.

    Temporarily extending a boiler flue

Depending on the boiler, you may be able to have the flue extended through the extension and out of the wall, but why you would want to do that is beyond me. It would only be possible if the flue parts were still available and the manufacturer's advice on maximum flue length was adhered to...

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

Mike...why not try putting a fixed value or variable resistor in place of the return sensor. You can then model the return temp and see if this has any effect on the firing profile.

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

There was a definate improvement after the flush but still not good enough to heat some of the most distant radiators on the circuit. I can tell there is a restriction from the noise that the pump is making. The Viessmann engineer could.tell because he measured differential temp and had seen it...

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

One of my clients has the same problem. He got Viessmann in. They diagnosed a blockage in pipework or heat exchanger. Having seen it myself, I agree. I repaced the pump with my powerflush unit. Boiler went on to full firing rate and stayed on. Powerflush improved matters but not fully...

Nest Gen 3 Install vs Hive Gen 2 Install UK

Thanks for clarification, OP. Much appreciated..

Nest Gen 3 Install vs Hive Gen 2 Install UK

Odd way to approach a choice of product - nest is a learning thermostat whilst hive requires schedules to be set. I have hive 2 and it is superb. Nest would not cope with my erratic and changing needs. Go with what fits your requirements rather than which is easiest to fit.

Replacement of ideal minimiser se 60

I too would recommend the Logic.. Very simple boiler and very easy to work on. Parts easily obtained and not grotesquely expensive. Good reliability record. Made in UK. Would fit one in my own house.

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

No. Why are you not entirely convinced? As already said several times on here, and by the manufacturer, you have a restriction. Repipe the return from cylinder to boiler. Use some decent flushing product like fx2 or ds40 on a powerflush unit on the rest of the system. Until you do something...

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

i would be looking at the layout and size of the pipework and perhaps consider replacing the return section from the cylinder to the boiler as this is the part that gets choked. the compact is a decent boiler and should last 15-20 years. a new boiler is going to go the same way as this one...

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

it doesn't take much of an obstruction to cause these boilers to behave in an erratic manner. i would suggest a powerflush using some strong chemicals to improve the situation. but if it is working, radiators getting hot and boiler not making a racket, then i would just live with it.

Reverse boiler flush? (Viessmann Vitodens 100)

x800 will not touch the crud that builds up in these things. you need to use FX2 or DS40 and run it through hot, preferably with a powerflush machine. is it a 26kw model? does it make sizzling noises when the burner is on full output?
