    Broadband and telephones

It depends on the router and where it's (often internal) aerials are pointing. They can be designed to beam the signal horizontally, or they can be designed to attempt to cover a sphere. If they have external aerials then you can move the aerials about to try to get better coverage.

Something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-MU-MIMO-Wireless-Gigabit-Outdoor would give you WiFi outside. If you want more hard wired connections than you have sockets available then you plug a switch like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-SG108S-Ethernet-Lifetime-Warranty into...

Easy enough to run wired connections from the loft to strategic locations around the house and plug in extra WiFi access points where required. I have the router upstairs and an extra access point downstairs which is wired back to the router.

    Brass light fitting adjustment needed

It also seems to say removable (pointing to the pole). Can the pole be removed and the shade part be screwed directly to the part which fits on the ceiling?

    Presumably whoever purchased the farm.

    Farmers on the march

Well, I think that if I inherited an asset worth £5M which would only give me a return of 50k a year I would sell it and invest the proceeds. It wouldn't be difficult to achieve a return of more than 50k a year from the sale proceeds.

    Farmers on the march

Yes it's future tense but who can predict the future? Who can predict when Mr Dyson might pass away and who can predict what the tax regime might be at that time? Impossible to know if he will pay more tax as a result of this policy, I would say.

Duh, you are right I multiplied instead of dividing.

    Farmers on the march

Where are you getting that figure from? According to https://www.fwi.co.uk/business/business-management/farm-profit-forecasts-point-to-focus-on-fixed-costs "The net margins of higher performing businesses in 2024 are expected to be more than 75% greater, at £422/ha, than those of average...

    Farmers on the march

Net profit of 40-50k from a 300-400 acre farm? That's only £125 an acre.

    Farmers on the march

They are being treated better than the rest of the population but still complaining. They will only pay IHT on the value above £1M (not the whole value of the farm), but, as with the rest of us there is no IHT to be paid on the value of property up to £325,000, bringing the untaxed total to...

Move Socket 2 Feet - Acceptable to Join Cables In Old Wall Box?

It appears that the old position is no longer visible. What is creating a safe zone for the vertical cable run to the old position?

    Broadband and telephones

Good. I have trawled the internet and have found some other people who have managed to get both the ONT and the "external" junction box installed in their loft so it obviously is possible with the right loft conditions (boarding & access) and a helpful installation engineer. I hope all goes well...

    Drone Novice

Agreed. The 10km range does enable good signal transmission where signals are noisy. As the drone transmission is on the WiFi 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands it helps in built up areas where those bands might already be saturated. The Mini 4k model is a very good drone, fine for a beginner and more...

    Broadband and telephones

It will be interesting to see if that happens. All the ones that I have seen have a box outside and near ground level. I can't see any physical reason why it needs to be outside, but it does need to be near a stable surface as the equipment that they use to precisely align the ends of the cable...

    Drone Novice

I use a DJI Mini 4 Pro. Video transmission of up to 10kms does not mean that you can fly the drone that far away as you are required to maintain Visual Line of Sight to your drone at all times. You are very unlikely to be able to see the drone more than a few hundred meters away. Read the Drone...

10 metres between the box outside, which will need to be near ground level, and the ONT inside. They carry 10 metre cables which are pre-terminated at one end, to plug into the ONT. The end outside is "welded" to the fibre from the pole in the box outside.

Getting Engineer Access to Texecom Premier

You can't reset an unknown engineer code without completely defaulting the panel, which would then need to be set up from scratch. It is also possible that the engineer has locked the Non-Volatile Memory, in which case you can't even default the panel, you would need to purchase a new one and...
