    Interesting charge/discharge gadget

I think it is measuring the charge transferred in and out of the battery. The user seems to have to set the battery capacity in the meter parameters when the battery has been charged to 100%. Then the meter measures what comes out of the battery to supply a load and what goes into the battery...

It seems to be a small shelf for crushed Weetabix?

    Roundabout signage?

Driving instructors often use those simplified instructions for learner drivers. As you gain more experience you should instead follow the instructions in the highway code which essentially says: Unless signs or road markings indicate otherwise: Use the left hand lane if taking the first exit...

Installation Reference Method for T&E cable running through joists with no thermal insulation? (Lacking from table 4D5 in BS7671)

Yes. Provided that there is a clearance between a cable and any adjacent surface of at least 0.3 times the cable external diameter for multicore cables, natural air convection is not impeded, and any heat sources are taken into account.

Installation Reference Method for T&E cable running through joists with no thermal insulation? (Lacking from table 4D5 in BS7671)

At least you are thinking about it and not just blindly following the rules. Timber won't act as a very efficient heatsink to take heat away from a cable.

Installation Reference Method for T&E cable running through joists with no thermal insulation? (Lacking from table 4D5 in BS7671)

Presuming that your hole through the wood is bigger than the cable, which it should be, then the cable is only resting on the bottom of the hole with free air above the cable. I cant see that this is significantly different to a cable clipped direct to a wooden joist. In both cases one side of...

    On Ebay right now

I would rather he didn't test that theory. He's nearly 90 with COPD and a quick bzzt might be enough to finish him.

    On Ebay right now

People with no electrical knowledge can, and do, buy these electrical connectors in DIY sheds. There is a 50:50 chance that they will fit them the correct way round. I found one installed incorrectly on my father in law's lawnmower, he had no idea that it mattered which cable each connector part...

Freeview To Be Phased Out Starting 2030

I'm one of those people. My TV doesn't have an internet connection, it's about 20 years old and it still works, I have no intention of replacing it until it fails. I watch Freeview and I have a Panasonic box that allows me to record Freeview and watch it at a time that suits me. I've got a...

    Resin drive question

"We don't know" is a perfectly valid answer. Followed up with "we haven't been able to find out" if they persist.

It’s 2025……spec me a boiling water tap please

My sister has one, she uses it every time she wants boiling water, she doesn't own a kettle. I've no idea if it's been serviced but she has had it for several years.

    Cameras with lights

I've used the Eufy S100. From a distance it looks like a light. Close up it says Eufy Security on the bottom light and the camera is plain to see. I haven't used any other camera/light combination. It depends what you mean by discreet, normally it should be made obvious to people that they are...

How would you board this section of loft?

Sorry, I missed that bit. I can't help then as all loft flooring I have installed has always added load onto the ceiling joists (and never caused them to deflect by any detectable amount).

    Scott Lawn Spreader Lubrication

If it is the model with a steel axle then it should be stripped, cleaned and lubricated after every use according to the manufacturers instructions. Lots of the chemicals which are applied to lawns cause the steel axle to rust and fail. They are not difficult to get back together after being...
