    Fitting Spirotech MagnaBooster MB3 DIY

I added extra step to previous post, that is to open radiator bleeds near the end of the draining. Pump setting will depend on the size of your system and the minimum flow rate required by your boiler. Chemicals required for above process may need doubling depending on size of system as well.

If this is the case, check there's enough inhibitor in the system and leave it. What colour is the water in the F&E tank in the loft?

Buying a car - a road tax question.

Car tax is outdated, surely? Insurance is taxed, fuel is taxed, the car is MOT'd, a car service is taxed at VAT.:(

Buying a car - a road tax question.

Waiting to the end of the month will leave the seller a month out of pocket. I could ask seller to drive me home, drive them back and then part our ways but after all that faffing around I'd have spent a tenner on fuel (more money in the treasury). The conclusion here is that the only winner...

Buying a car - a road tax question.

That's it, the owner is taxed not the car. Collecting from a busy town with cameras galore, for the sake of £10.83... which would buy me a nice bottle of Rioja, I need to ask myself a question, do I feel lucky?

Buying a car - a road tax question.

I'm buying a second hand car this weekend. Once I've paid the private seller what's the deal with getting the road tax? Rather than paying a month tax for the 3 remaining days of August can I drive it there and then, a short 15 miles home, wait until 1st September and then pay for the road tax?

Turn boiler on and feel which pipe gets hot first and which other later. It does look tight in both places.

    Could these be air vents?

Is the gurgling when heating hot water, rads or both? I had air in my Y-plan when heating hot water only after I cleaned the system and replaced the pump. I found an AAV made little difference to remove the air but it helps when re-filling. I removed the air by draining from the boiler...

Noisy hot water system - Any ideas? (includes pictures)

I think the Altecnic Robocal AAV is good. Always keep the black screw in place unless you think there's air to purge (ie don't lose it).

Noisy hot water system - Any ideas? (includes pictures)

With corrosion and pin holes in the rads it might be hydrogen sulphide, not air. Does the gas smell of rotten eggs? Sounds like your system needs a powerflush as well as new rads.

Noisy hot water system - Any ideas? (includes pictures)

If you have a hidden leak this could be where air is being drawn in to the system. No idea where the leak may be? Why do you think there's a leak somewhere? Try the pump at speed 3 for a few secs then down to 1... wait and repeat. It might push the air up and out. Though it's not the...

Boiler gurgling noise on HW cycle only

Try turning pump speed from min to max for a few seconds and repeat, it might force the air out.
