    LG Plasma TV broken

Having it doesn't mean you have to use it. It's a freeview TV for watching BBC1 eastenders, or something.

    LG Plasma TV broken

It does now, with the china box. It's working better than planned. Power on and watch. Both TV and box can tolerate external power control and continue where they left off. Gained the ability to play from USB and record to USB. Didn't gain play from youtube because the supplied wifi dongle...

You might remember the spraying thread. Is it really hope, or foreknowledge?

OK. I like the devil I know. It was good for 20 years. Should be good for another 20.

    LG Plasma TV broken

How would you know how the china box works? I will get it and see. Possibly you are not used to advanced TVs. For this unit, after power on, it goes straight to the last selected input. Everything will be controlled by a power remote. In the worst case, power remote on, then china remote choose...

    LG Plasma TV broken

Sorted. The tunner in the TV was incompatible with the current freeview signal. Same for an old currys freeview box that was working last year. I was unable to find info on this issue. It seems the people behind the signal don't care and those with old stuff should just f-off. The TV works fine...

WTF. If it needs a discussion thread, then it is too complicated for the intended user.

    LG Plasma TV broken

Worth it for the full cinema experience, though. I have never found LCD picture quality satisfactory - motion blurs, move head slightly and poor view angle issues show up. Also, a pensioner needs more warmth. So, nothing is going to waste. The max savings that could be accomplished with a new TV...

    LG Plasma TV broken

Even a pensioner can afford £1 a day. Is a plasma TV expensive to run? However, if you have a plasma TV, which averages around 350 watts, it consumes 0.35 kWh per hour. Therefore, if it's turned on for 8 hours a day, it will cost about 62.6p per day or about 7.8p per hour.

    LG Plasma TV broken

Sorted, sort off. The main board comprises two halves. Aerial on left half and other input sockets on right half. The right half appears to generate TV signals and send back to the aerial thingy on the left. A micro resistor was blown at the ribbon cable bridge joining the two halves. This would...

Some tips and tricks. I followed the website and it told me to replace the main board. So, my initial assessment was right.

Here's structural description of the plasma TV. I place my problem at the mainboard where all the input connectors are.

    LG Plasma TV broken

What a larf. I have just discovered I don't actually need an aerial. A round coil of aerial cable placed on the floor works. Still, this doesn't fix the broken TV.

    LG Plasma TV broken

So, I need to get a new TV with wifi? Why don't I just get normal TV and plug in the aerial? The issue here is not an aerial problem. The issue is a break inside the TV between input sockets and the consuming unit for the input. If you supply input via wifi, the break remains. There is no wifi...
