Recapping ... people seem to make a lot of fuss over removing non-reusable caps. Not clear to me why they can't just dremel it off - cut the head and unsolder the legs. Perhaps there is concern about pulling the pads off?

It seems inevitable the signal scheme would allow for a range of impedances. Splitting the cable may not necessarily take the impedance out of range. The only way to find out is to do it. I was on the verge of doing it before being short circuited by the non-necessity of it. Perhaps another...

Cool. Can't say I understand it. If the impedance reduces (or dampens like a car shock absorber) the received signal, the correction is to increase the signal strength. Since the area I am in has strong signal, any impedance I add would not be sufficient to cause the complete loss of the signal...

Thank you all. The project has been canceled. TV signals have come a long way since the last time I contended with them 15-20 years ago. The signals in the area are so strong that I would have gotten something if I stuck my finger into the aerial socket. All mini indoor aerials work. The loft...

I never aimed to be, though. I can't stop you thinking it, nor would I try. I don't really think about it. I post to solve practical problems that produces a return on effort. Legend isn't required. But quick and cheap is.
