Black bits in bath from hot water tap and shower

I am surprised they are getting through the shower head, is it fixed or on a hose that too will be rubber inside. I doubt the taps are shedding rubber as the still seem to work. Might be worth taking the head off and giving it a good flush into the bath in case it's something that has got into...

Black bits in bath from hot water tap and shower

Well the flexi will have rubber under the braid, are you sure it's not black mould forming on the tap outlet? Our handbasin gets that from time to time.

How to properly repaint staircase that's already been painted in the past?

Redo the lot, satinwood oil based yellows with age, so you will not get a colour match I'm afraid. If it is just the hand rail and newell post that are worn just do them the spindles being darker will not notice.

    Stubborn screw removal

Have you got an impact driver (not a hammer drill), on reverse they usually shift them. Old school Pozidrive pound through (metal shaft goes through the handle to the top) screwdriver, hammer and turn at the same time, always worth trying to tighten first before trying to undo. Last ditch remove...

Neighbour refuses to let me paint my fence

I never paint fences now, just a chore that needs doing every couple of years as it looks tatty, proper closeboarded or featherboard fences will not last any longer, as said the posts go first, and those pre made panels from DIY stores just fall apart whatever you do to them (n)
