    Toilet Seat replacement

I think you are right that is a bottom fix fitting the metal looks like the head of a coach bolt with a wing nut underneath. can you break the ring, I assume it is plastic? If you were on Santa's good list the old bolt might drop through! At least you might be able to get a small hack saw on it.

Are fibre washers specific to hob brands/models?

As you suggest the makers are the best way to go there tend to be two kinds of fibre washers the red hard type an the grey softer ones you tend to see the red on water and the grey on gas but not always showers often have grey washers too. Important to get the correct one for any gas connection.

Emergency shut off valve to gas meter

Only urgent if it is leaking or you plan on having an empty house for a long time, to turn the gas off. Fact is the chances are with a bit of leverage it will turn off if you desperately needed to. If it has a handle a lever on that will shift it or if not a decent size adjustable will move it...

    ten Hag sacked

Never understand football, 11 overpaid blokes on the pitch can't win a game so blame the guy sitting on the sidelines! Might as well blame traffic cops if you get drunk and crash your car!

    Boiler burping noise

Sounds more like the jumper (washer) on a stop cock somewhere (water hammer) or a valve in the boiler "fluttering " on its seat. Slow gas ignition is more of a thump. First thing I would try is adjusting the main stop cock up or down a bit. and see if the noise is louder anywhere else on the...

    Can't find the pressure valve

To re-pressurise I assume you mean. The braided hose is the filling loop, turn on both the valves (screwdriver slots in line with the pipe on, across off) and turn off when between 1 and 1.5 bar on the gauge. The valve on the right looks a bit mangled though so make sure you use a well fitting...

    Acceptable gas leak???

OK I am an old fella that still thinks in tenths of an inch! Only allowable if not being smelt or reported. Example, you go to do a job test before hand and see a very small drop on the gauge, after work you cannot locate it and the drop is the same. If you know where it is you fix it!

shadows of breeze blocks through paint

I have seen it I doubt it is damp, just a difference in porosity between block and mortar, I would give it a couple of coats of stain blocker then repaint. My go to blocker is Zinsser bulls eye 123. (y)

    Vomit smell from water cylinder

OK as I said I am a bit out of touch these days but it still seems excessive, I would google the makers of the cylinder and give them a call for their opinion.

    Vomit smell from water cylinder

Certainly something more wrong there, much too high, normally heating around 80 and domestic hot water 60 deg. Sounds like you could make tea with your system! Not to be a scaremonger but I would get that sorted asap, impress on the council the urgency. If you have kids or other vulnerable...

    Vomit smell from water cylinder

Possibility but if a lot is being produced it suggests a problem with the system, constant refilling or else pumping over/ sucking in air. Not familiar with your Thermoflow system, but certainty not uncommon if the normal open systems. Perhaps others will be a bit more up to date than an old...

    Vomit smell from water cylinder

Chances are it is the additive in the heating system you can smell it can be unpleasant. Stop the leak should solve it although if that auto vent is operating a lot you may have a smell from the gasses produced.
