    Cooker tripping CU

Hi Dis, Not too much to be honest. 4 lappies and a desktop. Can I absolutely rule out any other cause? I really don't want to fork out a load of cash just before Christmas if it isn't going to fix the cooker issue :(

    Cooker tripping CU

Thanks John, great info. Can a higher rated RCD not be fitted to the existing CU ?

    Cooker tripping CU

Thanks TTC. Unfortunatly I try and assign logic to everything. I have never ever had random trips. The first and only trips have been with the cooker which was fine for 18months and the previous cooker was fine for 12 months prior to that. The trips i get aren't random , they happen...

    Cooker tripping CU

Hi John The CU is pictured below and I hope will help with some of the questions. There is a 30mA fuse for the cooker socket. You are quite right everything here is electric (no gas). I am also fairly sure that the cooker fuse in the CU only covers the cooker only. The cooker is a free...

    Cooker tripping CU

Hi, A very brief bit of history first. Buy new cooker 2 years ago and connect. Works perfectly for 18 months then for no obvious reason every time grill is switched on the CU trips. Hob and oven work perfectly as before. Live with this for 3 months assuming cheapo cooker grill is...

    Firewalls

Come on Tonka. There is no doubt that what have written is factually correct, but the OP struggled to download and install the firewall. Do you really think he understands (or needs to understand) packet filtering, stateful packet inspection and FW's being application aware? Definitely not, and...

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

    its M3 , about 40 x 18 approx. I offered it up , and it seemed OK

Continual failure to connect resulting in 721 error code.

No sweat fella. It's a breeze. I'll dumb it down. Appologies if this is insulting, but you can skip the obvious bits. As before, uninstall everything Tiscali/Speedtouch related as described earlier. Connect the router to the filter/plug in power supply and plug an ethernet cable into any...

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

totally understand your concern Plug. You can't tell from the pic but the isolator is 7ft up the wall , so not in danger of being touched. The first time I will be in that zone will be to kill the power. Basically the incoming power cable was a cloth braided jobbie that was loosely, and by...

These are excellent user friendly routers m8. I don't know what the PM rules are here but if you want my number you can call me and I'll talk you through the setup if you wish, or I'll do my best on here . Good luck :)

Excellent. I don't suppose you took your laptop to your Dad's did you ? I can happily talk you through the setting up of these.

Continual failure to connect resulting in 721 error code.

Definitely. And can you tell me the make and model of router plz

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

Fair comment BS. I have bought and fitted some trunking that you may just be able to make out on the pic. Hopefully that will hide any dodgy routing. I have deliberately oversized the trunking hoping that it would give me more 'wiggle room'

Correct. Did you say your Dad has a router that isn't being used currently ?

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

Cheers DIS. I know what I am doing is not within the 'rules', but lets be honest, how much worse could the job I make out of it be than the mess they left ? :?

Your'e right. It's taken me this long to pull my finger out and sort it

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

The meter board used to be closer to the CU until they moved it further away , hence the cables draped across the wall. The cables used to nicely route along the coving and down onto the meter board. Yup. Not quite right there. I did indeed turn the power off and then removed the cover...

    Doh! wrong cable size :/

That's sounds good enough to me. Thanks Because the existing tails are not long enough to route properly. They would have to drape across the wall (as they do currently). A balls up by Scotty Power.

I hope this answers your question. I know the installation is a little dated, but it works  Can I use the cable I have bought, or do you need more info? Thanks Fellas :D
