    Removing bench drill check

I had the same issue when taking apart my bench drill. Solution was to open the chuck fully and insert a long bolt. I camped the chuck in a vice upside down and a Couple of whacks with a lump hammer and out she came. Not pretty but it worked Good luck Graeme

    Death trap table saw

I could rig up some sort of on/off switch no probs. I have a really cheap jigsaw that has a trigger on lock and I would be very surprised if it had the pendulum action unless that standard. What would a blade guard look like? Does it come over the table or sit like a riving knife? Thanks...

    Death trap table saw

Thanks to all for advice. If I can't fit a riving knife and guard I will be just using the router bit of the table. Trying to get one might be difficult as anticipated. I sent a pic of it to the seller and asked him to look for it. He said he'd get back to me, maybe he will. I can find a...

    Death trap table saw

Hi, Just bought a table saw on gumtree for £40. Needed a work bench so even just the table was useful I thought. I appreciate that table saws are quite dangerous and I have never owned one so advice much appreciated. He said it was complete, but it's not got the riving knife, to which the...

which angle grinder to sharpen mower blade?

To sharpen anything I would use a good quality ******* file. Only ever apply pressure with the forward stroke of the file. Clean it often with a file card. This way you can take out most of the nicks carefully. It takes time but finishing with a stone gives a great edge. I use a Lansky stone...

    Easy Base Home Extensions

If you look at the portfolio page http://www.easybasehome.com/casestudies.php Check out the angle of the aerial in the photo 2nd down on the right. If a roofer had ever been up there he would have sorted that. I mean it's there portfolio. Cheap and cheerful and not done right. Screams of...

Removal of wood oil from brushed stainless steel sink

As a chemist I would go: Acetone : nail varnish remover Xylene/toluene : specialist paint thinner (halfords) Ethanol: methylated spirits hasn't done much so I would try the above. I would then try chlorinated solvents. Dichloromethane or similar. On ebay but expensive. Graeme

Mounting hardiebacker at base of chimney

Hi, I used a hardie backer closure plate but the stove pipe came through a sealing plate http://www.stovefitterswarehouse.co.uk/collections/bits-n-bobs/products/sealing-plate That way it won't crack the cement board. Stovefittersmanual.co.uk Great resource and worked for me Graeme
