New filling loop opposite way round to the old one. Or is it

I bought a new flexible filling loop to replace the old one, as per this thread: http://www.diynot.com/forums/plumbing/leaking-filling-loop-and-two-of-them.361230/ Just looked at the new one and it's the opposite way round to the old one, by which I mean: Old one, DVC on cold mains...

Leaking Filling Loop, and two of them

Thanks. Actually I don't suppose I have to replace the whole thing do I? Just the isolator valve (?). The one with the black knob on the back. The double check valve is on the left and actual flex pipe is fine. Just that the less compression joints I have to re-make the less chance of failure...

Leaking Filling Loop, and two of them

It's difficult to say how much I've actually been filling it up due to leaks (which I've not noticed, by the way). I've done a bit of my own CH work in this house. So over the past 2 or 3 years I'm usually at a point where a new rad or towel rail has been fitted. Or the system drained and...

Leaking Filling Loop, and two of them

Thanks for swift reply. Yes, replacing the external filling loop. Presumably it should have some sort of non return valve built in to comply with regs. Just reading the Installers Instructions again the 'built in' filling loop is meant to be 'detached' after filling. Which makes the...

Leaking Filling Loop, and two of them

Boiler is a Vaillant Eco Tec Plus 831 Combi. Fitted about 5 years ago. Serviced by Vaillant, last time last June. There's a filling loop which I use, and was shown how to use by the installer. Here's a few pictures: I'm only having to top the boiler up every few months. The...

Danfoss Randall TRV. Will it leak now?

Heating up fine now. Doesn't seem to be any leak from around the pin, presumably there's some sort of O ring sealing it. I'll leave it as is for now. I just gave it lots of pushing in/letting go. Is WD40 recommended?

Danfoss Randall TRV. Will it leak now?

I had a stuck TRV (rad cold). Found some instructions, got the plastic shroud off. Pushed the little pin in and out a bit. Thought I'd give it a thorough waggle with pliers. The pin came right out. Then a bit of a leak through the hole it left. Put the pin back in. Doesn't seem to leak now...

Wood filler in gaps in ply floor lining?

I've just laid 9mm ply over the boards in my bathroom. As prep for vinyl. I've done that before in other rooms and carpet fitters always say it's perfect/lovely job/easy to lay carpet on top of etc. Just round the toilet couldn't really scribe it perfectly, because of where it is. So there's...

    Toilet outlet movement possible?

I've actually got this crazy idea that as well as lining the floor with ply, I'll also get the vinyl laid, THEN fit the toilet and basin pedestal. So any, er, spillages aren't soaking into the timber. Is that a crackpot idea?

    Toilet outlet movement possible?

[/url] Thanks. Glad to see that's not corrugated on the inside. The would be A Bad Idea (tm). We're lucky that we've got another loo, so if I run into difficulties it's not the end of the world.

    Toilet outlet movement possible?

I'd like to remove my current toilet, line the floor with 9mm ply, and put the toilet back. It's a close coupled (I think thats the right term) cistern. The outlet from the toilet goes out the back, into a white plastic thing, into a black plastic thing, into the cast iron soil pipe. How...

Deck mounter bath taps with thermostatic shower mixer

At last, managed to find one: http://www.boundarybathrooms.co.uk/Bathroom-Taps/Thermostatic-Bath-Shower-Mixers/Bristan-Regency-Bath-Filler-With-Thermostatic-Shower.html Some price though, and not at all in keeping with the rest of the bathroom. Might not get that past the 'the trousers'.

Deck mounter bath taps with thermostatic shower mixer

I've got a Bristan thermostatic mixer with shower outlet. Deck mounted. It's OK (except the knob that switches to shower keeps coming off). But, if you're filling the bath, even on maximum temperature I'm not getting the same hot water that I do out of the hot tap on the basin 6 feet away...

    Compression joint onto Hep2O failure

On this job, 4. 2 each end of 2 stop cocks. Everything else is soldered copper or push fit Hep2O. I don't. I only use them when I have to. I didn't install isolators on the bath, using soldered tap connectors. All the hidden work, both water and central heating is soldered, or if possible...
