House Buying Saga - Am I Making a Huge Mistake?

Walk away if it worries you that much. Any house will have it's problems of one sort or another. I don't think the things you have listed are too bad. You could try to negotiate the price down if you haven't committed yet although the price isn't bad although I think you over bidded. Oh and...

Can anyone please tell me what this gunk is? (On window frames) (Ed.)

Nail polish remover is acetone. Try it somewhere where it doesn't matter if you use it because acetone can discolour or even melt some plastics. Personally I would just use a scraper to scrape it off.

    central heating system

Drain the system to paint behind one radiator? Turn off both valves, crack the joint to the rad and drain the rd. Once the rad is empty dissconnect both valves from the rad and lift the rqad off it's wall brackets. I will admit that emptying the rad this way does take a bit of time but it's a...

    Wonderful....Wonderful

Bloody row. I had to listen to that infernal racket for four years of the twelve years that I was in the army. Much prefer a good brass marching band.

Worth getting a windows vacuum for condensation?

I would think it would be better to find out why there is so much moisture in the air. Those vacuums do work but they will only take the condensation away that is there they will not stop any further condensation. Also if you are saying that the disposable dehumidifiers are "filling" up they...

    Shower/Bath pump staying on - Salamander CT75

When my salamander pump went, would not turn on, I took the housing apart to see if could repair replace the flow sensor. It wasn't repairable or replaceable as far as I was concerned and when I put the housing back together it leaked. So I binned that pump and bought a new one. Salamander pumps...

    Magic posts

Maybe the mods want to make this a do it yourself forum rather than the controversial and argumentative crap that you and your ilk post on here.

    Freeview Play Mystery

I would stick with your arial if I were you. A lot more to go wrong with a sat dish than there is with an arial. Sat dish can be blown off the signal and it only takes a small movement. The LNB can get wet and or just stop working if not sealed properly. Same with the coax any water in it and...

Blimey. This petition is gaining some signatures.

How the hell can you say that they won fair and square when they have gone back on every manifesto promise they made. Bottom line is that they won by lying through their teeth. Ah yeah but I forgot. This is the Do It Yourself forum where there are a load of clowns who like to use big words to...

    Heat pumps and noise

As said it's an out and out scam. Same as the covid scam and the EV scam. The people need to put a stop to these things but we will blindly bumble on following a bunch of clowns that know nothing. I live in a bungalow with a gas boiler (Worcester Bosch standard boiler). My central heating is 8mm...

    British missiles in Ukraine

Oh come on if putin does anything nuclear then russia would cease to exist. So would the rest of the world but that's the way it goes. It's high time america stopped pussy footing around and told russia, china, north korea and a few middle east countries how it is. To be honest I don't think...

    Cold weather and boiler

I suppose it could be although electronic compoents usually fail with heat. My boiler failed twice during the two very very very brief hot spells we had this year. I asked my son in law to have a look, yes he is gr incase the usual crowd come in mob handed, but he couldn't find anything out of...

Dacia Duster vs Jogger vs Logan Stepway - please help me decide which to get?!

I had one of the first 7 seater Joggers which only had the 0.9 cc petrol engine. Nice car bags of room especially with the two third row seats taken out but woefully underpowered. I considered it to be actually dangerous when pulling out into heavy traffic as it would just die on me. The newer...

    Dual flush push button

The flush valve is held open by the pressure of the water flowing through and the valve drops back down as the water pressure decreases.
