    R1 + R2 method to confirm polarity

Can anyone explain something to me.... When doing R1 + R2 method to check polarity on a radial (lighting circuit will do for this example) ... what if there was a double cross over along the circuit somewhere? The installer inadvertently reverses polarity at one rose (for example) and then...

New stop tap doesn't stop water

Yeah the arrow is the correct way round. I tried splitting it, but its too tight while its in situ. I'll get it in a vice and dismantle it.

New stop tap doesn't stop water

I'll remove the whole thing 2moro and get it in a vice so I can remove the housing that houses the tap handle - no idea what it's called.

New stop tap doesn't stop water

I fitted a brand new 32mm brass stop tap today on a new supply and it doesn't turn the water off. It winds in and out fine, but makes virtually cock all difference to the flow of water. I cant face taking it out again... but suspect ill have to. Anyone else experienced this or got any...

    Access to neighbours roof

Of course..... but this is a woman who blocked the entire cul de sac with her and her husbands car in the middle of summer for no apparent reason for 24 hours - no cars in, no cars out. When it finally boiled over and several people confronted her.... her reason was because 8 months earlier...

    Access to neighbours roof

I'm wondering whether to leave the fascias and soffits on the gable.... they were capped over 4 years ago and still look good, but I know the wood underneath em (Fascias) is well rotten and I'm concerned if I don't replace em now, ill need to do it on a few years anyway and I'll have to deal...

    Access to neighbours roof

The fascias and soffits all need replacing too.... there are asbestos sofits that need to be removed first. Cant imagine they can do all that without accessing the gable. Ill post a pic....

    Access to neighbours roof

My next door neighbours garage is joined to the gable end of my house. My roof needs replacing, but they will need to put scaffolding on neighbours roof. Shes that crazy lady everyone has on their street and I doubt very much that she will agree to it. Has anyone else here been in a similar...

Regs for extending RFC and lighting circuit

I'll have a chat with them and see what they say. I suppose it will come down to if I can convince him that I'm competent or not..... seems a bit flakey really, that it basically comes down to someone's opinion.

Regs for extending RFC and lighting circuit

Just found the following on the building control paperwork..... 'All electrical work required to meet the requirements of Part P (Electrical Safety) must be designed, installed and tested by a person competent to do so. Prior to completion, the Council should be satisfied that Part P has been...

I share your view, but they kind of have u over a barrel when it comes to issuing a completion certificate.

Regs for extending RFC and lighting circuit

There is nothing on the plans relating to the electrical installation. The plans and building control drawings only detail the construction of the structure. Window and door requirements, insulation requirements, lintel and steel requirements etc, but nothing at all in relation to the...
