Potterton Suprima 50 thermocouple / PCB on way out?

I already pay the annual service on dd, so presumably if I upgrade to gold star it won't be so much. I remember now she said, the £50 excess charge would be on £9 a month, and the most I could pay was £13 ... maybe that's ON TOP OF what I'm already paying? If it keeps switching off though...

Potterton Suprima 50 thermocouple / PCB on way out?

There's time to switch to the full beans contract though, which I'll do since the call out for a repair is £178

Potterton Suprima 50 thermocouple / PCB on way out?

Potterton Suprima 50 thermocouple / PCB on way out?

I understand if it was the thermocouple being dead it would go off as soon as I released the button. As it goes off some time later could it be the thermocouple is on its way out or how do you diagnose PCB failure? Thermocouple is a corgi job, right, what about PCB? This thread suggested a...

Potterton Suprima 50 thermocouple / PCB on way out?

The pilot light keeps going out some time during the day (only noticed since we've had the heating on, though maybe its not been doing the HW in day for a while ...) and I have to reset it. Its due a service (November) by BG. If I get them to come out for that earlier will he be able to try a...

    Quieten noisy main in bedroom?

I tried it without the tap connector and was fine. Have a service valve to add so when I get round to that - 2010? - I might add the tap connector, since the existing elbow is a bit ropey. Cheers! :D

    Quieten noisy main in bedroom?

Woo Hoo!!! Done it :) And in LESS THAN 2 YEARS!!! The thing is incredible. I can't hear it filling a half empty tank above the noise of the computer fan. Just waiting to see the fill level is up ... yep all good and soooo easy to adjust. Cheers chaps! :D

    New central heating timer

Only got the one thermostat and its a BG RS1, analogue dial. Should this be interchangeable with http://www.screwfix.com/prods/17585/Plumbing/Central-Heating-Controls/Horstmann-DRT2-Room-Thermostat ? I appreciate the back may not be interchangeable on this one ... Cheers! :d

    New central heating timer

I know you guys hate this but I haven't changed the part in the last 2 years but with prices as they are I fancy doing it this weekend if it'll reduce my hotwater cost in the week :) The box design is identical not to danfoss but the drayton gear. In fact it looks like a rebranded drayton from...

    Empty, move and refit toilet

Got a pan I need to move so I can replug the screws holding it down since the olds ones rusted clean through  Waste exits to the back then goes off to the left. I guess I have to break that seal. Will it go back ok? Will this fit most applications...

Ok to run swa in pipes above ground through the garden?

No that's all fair comment :) So should I measure the length of the cable run from the CU or the socket for the spur? The house is probably 10-15m long (CU is at the far end). Has there already been some voltage drop by the time the cable is run through the house? Cheers! :D Edit: btw I...

Well I have now - even got the multimeter out - friends? :)

Ok to run swa in pipes above ground through the garden?

Ok cheers all. Since I'm not digging in most of it - just a short length under a path that I'll mark appropriately - figure I don't need to future proof with large cable. Also the case since I won't run it back to the CU just an FCU, so capped to 13amps in any event. Although, for voltage drop...

    part p dilemma in screwfix

I liken this to an American's right to bear arms: what you do in your own home etc. The difference in cost to part P everything is hundreds of pounds. I can fit brakes to my car. There's a system that's a bit older than part P - its called caveat emptor - buyer beware. How many people actually...

Ok to run swa in pipes above ground through the garden?

[/url] The duct in this link does look really good but I only need 15 metres, and the linked duct is expensive for a minimum of 50m. Is there no way to make a waterproof join in something like this? http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MT20HGB.html Cheers! :D
