Or would have to employ a lot more people to cope. I assume they just did recalibration changes previously. 2 for me same house. https://www.uswitch.com/gas-electricity/studies/smart-meter-statistics/ I don't see that they really do much in terms of cost savings.

The average price of arable land in England rose by 4% between 2022 and 2023, with an average price paid of £11,300/acre. Over 70% of the arable land traded in England during 2023 made more than £10,000/acre. As is usual, there was a much greater variability in pasture prices, because grassland...

They could have made better use of the NI cut but their ideas are much like Trump's trickle down and keep our tax as low as possible. Even so it reached record levels. Tax cuts to the public can boost gdp a bit as people have more to spend. Short term growth that vanished. Pay rises much the...

ICC issues arrest warrant for Netanyahu for crimes against humanity

A UN study group called for the warrant. A lot of the reasons come down to never meeting aid requirements. Even the one set by the US. This is very evident in the N of the Strip.

C4 backed the govs claim as well but pointed out that the missing element was how much farmers actually earn. They used the same valuation survey that the gov did. Also worked one case out. Single owner so question was how affordable £1xk for 10 years was. ;) can't remember the x value. They...

Bit of a pass. The 2 engineers that were around when mine was fitted both live locally. Not sure why a 2nd one came briefly as both ok with all gas and electric work. Some work done by a gas person resulted in a leak. Fixed quickly.

My recollection of the TV program doesn't include broken meters only comms not working. It suggested Scotland was a particular problem but here is me, B'ham and mine are not working as well. The fitter muttered that they were not working when he fitted them. General or just me - I don't know...

C4 did the calc for single owner £2.2m farm. I should have made notes but one point is they finish with more than a £1m limit. Go to 2 and things change. The missing info as far as C4 is concerned is income and ability to pay. They don't argue with the numbers effected. The gov say 500 a year...

    Farmers on the march

A budget change that gets no mention It's why we are investing £5 billion into farming over the next two years – the largest amount ever directed towards sustainable food production, rural economic growth and nature’s recovery in our country’s history. This may be related to farmers losses...

Yes but he also saw it as a tax avoidance measure and bought in a film crew to get back to his usual role and make money from that as well. He says he wanted a shoot as well. 1,000 acres is a rather large shoot. His farm is in a trust so as he sees it the 7 year rule is taken care of.

That is part of the reason for the budget. Mrs T removed the tax and farm land prices have increased ever since. It's being used as a method of avoiding inheritance tax by some.

Retail chiefs again when some inflation is predicted. Job losses - well there may be some but how many. A lot depends on the staffing levels they need and have. Investment - what open another branch?
