Poss 15 month old Heat Exch fault - can I seek repair/compen

I did mention the S&SoGtCR 2002, however, across Europe manufaturers WILL give consumers a 2 year warranty. This is costed into the products at the point of manufacturer (as I said, I did this professionally!!) and handled in the same way as the UK's 1 year warranty. Erm, what two year rule...

Poss 15 month old Heat Exch fault - can I seek repair/compen

Unless it's changed in the last 3 years, there is no consumer law that requires manufacturers to provide a 2 year warranty in the UK. The EU law that requires a 2yr warranty does not apply here. I believe DH may be referring to the "Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations 2002"...

Best way to operate central heating?

It takes me 8kWh just to heat the DHW twice per day! - I'm guessing your customer didn't use their boiler much? A quick calc reveals that at £175 per month, the OP is using approx 139 kWh of gas PER DAY to heat a 3 bed detached. (Assuming he's on a silimar BG tariff to me)

    Danfoss TP700 or Honeywell CM907?

Whilst you may have fitted many, I'm guessing your've never 'lived' with a TP7000 DP? Reliability is great for an installer, usability is as important for the user!!

Best way to operate central heating?

OP, as your a BG customer, you might want to look here http://www.britishgas.co.uk/energy-efficiency/free-insulation.html as BG are offering free loft insulation! or if you want to do it yourself, nPower's £3 per roll (delivered price) will be hard to beat! You might want to check the actual...

Best way to operate central heating?

I paid £1 per roll from an offer nPower (delivered by local builders merchant) had for any (non npower) consumer. Looking at their site, it looks to have increased to £3 per roll but still cheap! Without seeing your heat loss calc (earlier link) it is hard to say for certain, however, £175...

    Danfoss TP700 or Honeywell CM907?

I used to have a TP7000 (I purchased and fitted it) and although it did it's job, the user interface to change / input the heating times is so unintuitative, really poor, making it a real pain to use. For this reason, I would not recommend a TP7000 to anyone.

Best way to operate central heating?

Perhaps I should have phrased it differently above!? :) - What I meant, was don't use (switch off electric supply) any gas appliances for a period of time, checking meter readings before/after... I do agree that getting a RGI to perform a tightness test is the most reliable way to identify any...

Best way to operate central heating?

A couple of points to consider: 1) Gas prices generally went up in Nov (BG's for example increased by 40%) which may account for some of the increase (check what rate you are/were paying!) 2) You should not have TRV on the rad(s) where you have the room thermostat, otherwise the room stat...

New boiler installed on an old system. Bodged job?** PICS **

If we as a country accept poor service and sub-standard workmanship, Britain will continue to deteriorate. If 'we' stand up to / challenge it instead of just accepting it's 'okay', then maybe, just maybe things will change :!: :?: I've travelled around many countries and have to say our...

New boiler installed on an old system. Bodged job?** PICS **

I agree. The end result is what's important, it doesn't matter if it is achieved via a PF or chemicals. However, if a contract says the system will be power flushed and they were billed for power flushing when it wasn't carried out, that's fraud in my book and shouldn't be condoned.

New boiler installed on an old system. Bodged job?** PICS **

Would you say that if the "little guy" was a surgeon working for the "fat cat" NHS executives? Perhaps taking a shortcut whilst performing an operation on you!? That's okay yeah? Or, perhaps the "little guy" fireman who leaves his hose to go eat his lunch, allowing the fire he was putting out...

Warm front Installation due, Boiler / Radiator questions

Are you all condoning those fitters that provide shoddy work?? No? Thought not.. Perhaps you guys should remember your paying these cowboys (in many cases on here) before being so abrupt to your customers!? :? As a taxpayer, you are effectively the 'employer' of these shoddy workmen that...

how to cut a table top straight?

Hi, I'm a real novice with carpentry (not really done much since leaving school many years ago) however, we currently have a drop leaf table that needs a new top, we also have an old (but hardly used) table top which looks like it could be cut to fit perfectly! :) The 'new' table top looks...

Vaillant VRC 430f cycling issues - a solution?

... as he doesn't stay there long enough to find out and/or blinds the 'customer' with science about how it's working as designed if he's called back!? As a (technical) customer who understands his ecoTEC boiler and Vaillant controls more than most typical RGI's, I have to say that...

Replaced Pump, now heating wont work at all! HELP! Its freez

To get those heating up, you could try turning off all the working rads which forces the flow through the two non-working one's! - If sucessfull, you can then vent the trapped air via an airvent, pump and/or bleeding the rads.

    Vaillant Issues

It has reduced my energy consumption down considerable (currently -30%) from my previous installation so well worth it! :) I paid £121 (inc VAT & delivery) from www.supremeplumb.com for both the VRT 392 and VR 65 & I fitted them myself. It took me about 1-2 hrs to actually fit (that was...
