I was just looking on online and saw metal Z bars that might work too. I'd have to remove the batten on the mirror.

I've got a heavy mirror with a French cleat on the back for hanging it up, but I don't know what the correct wall fixings should be. Any recommendations?

It's below the surface. No black colour comes of on the top but it does on the bottom side. Even the lightest touch results in black fingers. I should have sealed the bottom with something before attaching the legs ☹️

Ah, you might be right. I actually have no idea how a barrel lid is made. It might just be t&g planks being falsely advertised as a whisky barrel top.

I'll get a price for glass from a local glazing company.

Good suggestion but I expect both will cost a small fortune. Especially glass, which would look better.

My son bought an engraved whisky barrel top, to which I attached hairpin legs. It looks great, but I don't know what to put on it to protect it. I'm not sure if it's got an existing protector on it and I want to keep the existing colour and matt finish. I'm also unsure about the engraved areas...

The new oak coffee table hasn't survived a Christmas visit from the family, and is covered in stains of unknown origin. The table has an 'unfinished' look though I expect it had been finished with something, but I'm looking for advice on how to remove these stains. Please see the attached photos.

One of my window handles is a bit wobbly, so I removed the screw cover and found the screw head was snapped off. The small piece of thread attached is only 2mm diameter. Is it one that can be easily wired in by ourselves? I've seen an even cheaper version around £60 that doesn't have the hub. I presume the hub is only required if you want to control from your phone.
