If you look at this photo then it looks like the pipe has PTFE tape under the valve. Why?

I'm wishing I checked this before buying the taps. The instructions show G3/8 (see photo), which I thought meant 15mm internal diameter. The valve says 15mm too but the external diameter is nearer 20mm when I measure it.

Why don't the new 3/8 tails fit?

Apologies for the delay in replying. All I can see are two hex screws. One at the top and one at the bottom. The glass slots into the frame, which is screwed to the wall. As an aside those are probably the wrong type of screw for this job.

It turns off the fan, but switching it back on allows the fan to resume it's cycle.

I've got the extractor timers working by switching off the power at the consumer unit before moving the jumper to different pins. I had only switched off using the isolator switch before. I've no idea why this would make a difference but it has.

Private seller I think. Bought 2 of these. I read in a related thread that the type of lighting can affect the timer, but I didn't understand the very technical explanation.

That's why I also asked about preventing further gunk build ups.

I'll check. I've only noticed the two covered with the silver caps on the glass itself.

That trap comes in 2 sizes. 10/2" and 10/4". Which do I need?

The reason I want to remove it is the gunk is between the glass and aluminium frame. Sorry if I'm stating the obvious. I don't know how I can clean it in situ.

Bought a generic shower seal and all is good now.

I just bought a replacement fan and fitted it. Is working fine. Thanks to everyone for the help and advice.

I'm pleased to report it's dried out and looks fine now.
