How do I re-attach this fence to its post?

Cover it with a post cap, like https://www.grangefencing.co.uk/core-assets/uploads/2017/11/Flat-Heavy-Duty-Post-Cap-Green-PCHD55G-2.jpg Make sure you get the right size, the cap will be a bit bigger than the post. Treating it won't hurt but it won't be sufficient. Wood rots when it is in...

    Shovel/Spade for moving soil?

AFAIUI they were originally designed for digging trenches for drains and such like, where you need a deep but narrow trench. I believe that people use then for making holes for fence posts, where again you want a deep but narrow hole, in this case narrow in two directions. When I have needed to...

    Shovel/Spade for moving soil?

If you have a load of soil with roots & stones in it, which has inevitably compacted somewhat under its own weight then shovelling it away is somewhat close to digging. There you were talking about a rake or hoe, which nothing to do with what I said. IME a Newcastle tool is the smart option...

    Shovel/Spade for moving soil?

It depends on the nature of the material. If I have a load of loose soil then I use a really large shovel like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-Digging-D-Shape-Handle-Approx/dp/B015BGEEQI But despite how it is labelled on Amazon that is hopeless for digging, and if it hits, say, stones or...

    Shovel/Spade for moving soil?

I'd go for a Newcastle draining tool like this https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-All-Steel-Professional-Newcastle-Draining-Tool/p/167425 With a large blade you can use it as a shovel in loose material, but having a narrow end the energy is concentrated and it will cut through a lot. Also being...

    Drills

You have, in passing, answered two questions that have been at the back of my mind for some time. Namely; What is an impact driver for? Would I gainfully use one? I do a moderate amount of DIY and use a Lidl 20V cordless drill most of the time. I bought that when my previous cordless (B&D)...

    Best Paving Slab Cleaner?

I have used Patio Magic Patio Cleaner to kill moss and it works well. However that and Wet and Forget (which I have not used) both use benzalkonium chloride (also called alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride) as the active ingredient. I suspect that Spear & Jackson Spray and Leave will be the...

Suggestions please to stop a running outlet feeding into a water butt when it pours with rain ?

No idea is that exists, but you can: - Fit one of the connectors that Andy listed to the water butt - Attach a short piece of hose to that - Fit another connector to the other end of the hose - Pop a male to male connector in the loose end Here...

Suggestions please to stop a running outlet feeding into a water butt when it pours with rain ?

Once clear of the patio (and anywhere else you want to keep dry), connect the hose pipe to some soaker hose to spread the water out and stop anywhere from getting too wet.

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

Well eight years is a long time for a rechargeable battery to last. You seem to be complaining about that, IMO that is pretty close to expecting them to last for ever. Only partly? So was probably defective.

    Cordless/battery Garden Strimmer

And has been explained to you, that was to be expected as they were old. The drill battery was eight years old. Nothing to do with the device, just the simple fact that batteries have a finite life. The first response to you included

Recommend a staple gun and stainless steel staples?

Could you hammer in a nail, loop the conducting wire around that (next to the plastic joist) then bend the nail up wards to hold the wire in place. Then move on to the next place, hammer in a nail ... Obviously slower than using staples but if you only have to do it once that is less of a problem.

Burying timbre direct to the ground soil ?

I have a large garden on the side of a valley. Where I have cleared scrub & weeds off of banks, I have put a post across the bank to help prevent the surface slipping down. The posts I have used are decent sized tree branches / trunks (e.g. 4-6" diameter) and they are held in place by stakes...

    Home chipper/shredder for tree pruning

The (sort of) cog wheel I referred to looks like That is the same principle a John described. It may be what he mentions as one with straight cutting flutes.

    Home chipper/shredder for tree pruning

I have just noticed something, the Bosch AXT2200 is not what is referred to as a quiet shredder. The quiet ones have a (sort of) cog wheel or drum rotating relatively slowly around a horizontal axis. They cut the material against a vertical plate. The other ones (normally called impact...

TRIMMING TREES WITH A PRESERVATION ORDER

The legislation is the same everywhere but there is a level of local interpretation, legislation often uses words like 'reasonable'. I live where there is a very large TPO area because of lots of trees planted in the late 19th century. A TPO only applies to trees in existence when it granted...

Mouse or Rat chewed spark plug of petrol lawn mower

I have heard two reasons. 1. Many (most?) plastics set pretty hard (as in brittle) when they are formed. Think of Bakelite if you remember that. Hence the mix has other materials added to keep the material somewhat flexible in use. These materials (referred to as plasticisers) smell nice to...

    Home chipper/shredder for tree pruning

@Why Not Indeed asked if there was a market for this and it was that question I answered. I have used all three types of shredder; rotary blade (or impact), worm screw*, and crushing (cod or drum). Other people have told you about them, I'm not sure what else you want. * AFAIUI only Bosch...

    Home chipper/shredder for tree pruning

It depends on what you mean by market. People paying for it, probably not, but people willing to take it away then yes. On my local reuse group (TrashNothing, Freegle) there are reasonably often people asking for / offering firewood. Over a number of years, I have done a lot of clearing in my...
