    Inheritance tax ...

The nhs has everything it can to avoid diagnosing her as needing a new hip, it feels more than negligent, it feels like a deliberate policy to delay the new hip as long as possible. The nhs is a failed institution that needs rebuilding from the ground up in my opinion. Throwing kore money at it...

Mystery damp patch on downstairs ceiling

That guttering arrangement has damp problems written all over it.

    Inheritance tax ...

My mother’s had a similar experience. Messed around by an incompetent nhs, eventually saw a private specialist and told she needs a new hip. She can wait 2 years for the nhs or pay £17k to get it done in January next year. She’s paying the £17k as there’s no point having a shiny new hip in...

    Inheritance tax ...

Coincidentally , my father became a partner with a firm called Thompson McClintock that merged with Peat Marwick to become Marwick Mclintock that then merged with other firms to form KPMG. My father resigned some years after it became KPMG after suffering from what at the time was called a...

    Inheritance tax ...

What a load of ****e, and bloody insulting to those who’ve worked hard and done well. A post based on envy and a typical entitled, jealous, left wing view. My father was the first person in his family to go to university (in the 60s when not many people did). He was the first person in his...

Opposite of pressure reducing valve ?

You could fit a flow restrictor to the pipes that feed the taps that cause the big pressure drop. That would have the effect of limiting the flow from those taps and therefore reduce the pressure drop to the shower.

Fixing light to lath and plaster ceiling

No, the rawl plug in the photo is unlikely to work in lath and plaster. You really need to find laths to screw into directly.

Blimey. This petition is gaining some signatures.

Manufacturing has been in recession for the last 9 months in my experience

What temp/humidity does water condensate in loft?

You need to stop the humid air getting into the loft if you don't want to do ventilation. You could do that by improving the ventilation in the bathroom (opening a window as well as running the fan. A big fan won't do much if the air tries to remove doesn't get replaced), generating less water...

What temp/humidity does water condensate in loft?

Google relative humidity. Air can carry different amounts of water depending on the air temperature, so air at 20 degrees at 50 RH will be carrying a lot more water than air at 5 degrees, 50% RH. Your problem will be warm humid air from the house escaping into the loft when it's cold and then...

LVT on top of cracked limestone with wet UFH?

I've done it with travertine in the past. Blended in very well. Had to open up the cracks a bit though to get the grout in.

Damp Issues in Basement due to side of house

Did the adjacent property have a cellar that's been filled in? I'm guessing you're in plymouth so i'm assuming that it might have been bomb damage that caused the adjacent property to be removed?

Quick fix silicone sealing (new over old) question

Bit late now, but i'd use CT1 as a temporary bodge. It seems to stick to anything, even wet surfaces.

Push Fit Elbows in Plaster - The Dark Web

The important thing is to make sure no plaster or adhesive gets on the push fit parts of the fitting. They need a little bit of movement with variations in pressure to allow the o ring to energise and seal. If they’re embedded in rigid plaster they can’t move and that’s when they can start to leak.

Water from dehumidifier in windscreen wash tank

The reason I ask is BMW’s are notorious for this problem if you don’t use the oem screenwash.

Damage to finish causing fibreglass bath to leak?

Those cracks could certainly leak. Looks like something was dropped in the bath. You could get it them repaired, but i have no idea how cost effective it may be. The cost of replacing the bath will be strongly linked to the cost of making good the inevitable damage done removing it.
