I’m getting fed up with premium bonds.

First time I've had a win since using the app, the champagne animation made me excited until I saw it was £25:ROFLMAO:

AEG Fridge Freezer side by side

What about wiring, pipework, internal controls etc, that stuff must transition between each side in various places so its unlikely they can seperate once built up. Or does each half have its own mains lead and is effectively self contained?

Internet in my FARADAY CAGE !!!

I've got a BT whole home mesh wifi setup and find its really good. Guides you through the setup no problems and can use any existing cat5 runs you have to extend, or just wireless between units. A unit in a back window covers the back garden to around 20m into my shed.

PVC pipe heat and fire insulation

I doubt you can insulate a cable to be 5 inches above a fire, and stay cool for potentially hours of heat being applied, no matter what insulation you use, the heat will get through eventually.

    Help with "plastic"

chopping boards are a good source of cheap very tough plastic.

Is it safe to drive with the coolant light on if the temperature gauge is in the safety zone ?

It could have been an airlock from filling up, which only then cleared when being driven, or when the thermostat opened and took a big gulp of water from the tank.

Bosch Washing Machine - gone up in smoke

When putting the new element in, have a good look into the hole first to see if there's any clips etc. When I did mine, there was a metal open spring clip similar to a pipe clamp for copper plumbing, and this engaged with the end of the element so its not floating around loose in there. Easy to...

    Toilet outlet lower than soil

I've got a toilet where its been bodged with an offset to make it go uphill and the flush is terrible, struggles to even flush a bit of paper, so I wouldn't try it on a new install!

    Copper Grease On Aluminium?

If you get some brake cleaner, that is in a spray can, a blast of that will wash out any grease easily, especially stuff just applied.

Ring main breaker tripping - can't identify cable fault

You might need a meter with a higher voltage insulation test. A normal multimeter isn't going to cut it, a proper insulation tester will test at 250V or even 500V

How much self levelling compound can I mix at once

Sorry I can't remember how big it was, but I just remember being surprised by how much volume it all took up, was initially hoping to get way more packs in. I had all the water ready in buckets and the packs open ready anyway so just added each water and pack until it was full. Also used the...

How much self levelling compound can I mix at once

I managed 3 bags together in a dustbin. Dont forget that with the water the volume is a lot more, when mixing it was right near the top. An electric paddle mixer was essential!

    Door mechanism voltage question ?

If it works by linking it out at the plug, then the only thing that can be happening is that the switch isnt' closing/making when you shut the door? Surely you can test the switch with your meter that your measuring volts with.

    Cat5/6 question.

Cable wise, make sure you get solid copper cores, some of them are plated aluminium. A simple punch down tool is all that is required to terminate it to the face plates. Then you can just buy pre-made 1m or so patch cables to connect between the wall and whatever you want. The pre-made patch...

Bath shower hose snapped off mixer tap

I think the only fix for that is a new tap I'm afraid. Looks like the metal casting has snapped off.

    Cat 6 cable and RJ45

As mentioned, use some sort of termination for the fixed cable and then buy a short patch cable to connect to the switch, that will ensure your using a flexible cable in the right place, and the rigid cable stays still. Something like this would also do...

    Electric throttle for 48v motor

No chance just putting a potentiometer in line with the motor, it would have to be massive, bigger than the motor itself. You need a speed controller which itself is controlled by a small potentiometer, such as...

    Invertor welder went bang

They do look like MOVs to me, should be able to identify the voltage rating from the side of the least burnt one. Cheap enough to replace. They short the supply by design to prevent voltage spikes, but I've found them to blow if the fuse doesn't trip soon enough. I've repaired an inverter...

Making a garage more useful - not converting

Shuttering ply usually has 1 good side that can be painted etc. I dont think the idea of a wall hanging from the ceiling is going to work well though, it will be very difficult to make the bottom sturdy so that it doesn't rock in and out from the brick wall? Plus if your going to add lots of...
