Solder and flux for stainless steel saucepans?

Looks like there's a nice flat mating surface, I'd drill it through and put some rivets in, the solid ones that you peen with a hammer.

New stair carpet laid recently looks as if it has a seam across it

I'd just pay up and be glad its sorted, and its all over!

Building a small sound-proof box for a loud computer - what material?

I think MDF is reasonable for this, and other box materials wont make a significant difference. The best idea would be to re-locate it to where the noise doesn't matter, in the loft? out in a shed? I wouldn't change the fans to silent types, high power units are always going to be noisy...

Removing staging from a huge greenhouse

You'll want a normal cutting blade for the grinder to cut the metal. Alternative is a reciprocating saw with a blade for cutting metal. I'd not worry about dealing with the concrete, just chop off the legs as low to the ground as possible, a grinder would make that pretty easy.

Zelio Logic 2 Smart Relay PLC

Pretty sure what you've linked is just an IO expansion and no good on its own. The small zelio PLCs need a special lead which is additional cost and a pain. Many new small PLCs now such as a Siemens LOGO or Allen Bradley 820 use ethernet to program so no special cable, and the software can be...

Wiring a patch panel - ethernet cabling

In a home you'll probably get away with that, but it wont be optimum. In an industrial setting that would have to be re-done.

    Large Garage Building Regs Requirements

Hi, I'm thinking of building a large garage in my garden, and want it over 30m2. It will be 2m from the boundary and made of timber. It's clear online that it then requires building regulations, but it's not clear which regulations apply? Surely I dont need to adhere to all the latest...

New Bosch Drill unit - wobbling head

Nothing wrong with that, its only the plastic cover that's wobbling, the important part that holds the drill etc is fine.

    DC crane

I wonder if they are just switching in that 500R resistor to limit the holding current through the coil once its been activated, as I presume the voltage R2-R3 will keep rising and could eventually damage the contactor coil. But if they put the 500R in all the time, it would trigger too late...

    Cavity wall insulation .......

I've seen lots of new builds where they put cavity batts in between, surely that's just the same?

    Screened cable

I tend to do them like this: And then use some earth sleeving. Some applications though its neater to crimp or solder into a normal bit of earth cable, especially if its got to run around a panel.

    Salus iT500 Thermostat

I've got an iT500 and its proven to be very reliable. However my internet router doesn't reset all the time, in fact it only ever resets if i perform a reset manually or the power goes out. I don't think its normal for your BT hub to always be resetting? maybe there's an issue with it. Maybe log...

    Plywood Ceiling Quote

Just googled and it can look ok I think. Those gaps seem to form part of the effect so its got to be installed well.

Making doors out of acrylic - good or bad idea?

Lexan is more expensive, but much tougher and not at all brittle like acrylic. Or you could make the door with a metal/wood frame and have a large plastic window in it?

    IKEA Pendant lamp ceiling hook

Dont just connect all the reds/browns together and all the blacks/blues together, its a common mistake when removing the ceiling rose. As mentioned mark them somehow so you can connect them exactly as they are now, just going by the colours usually isn't enough.

Advice needed for inspection chamber/access cover

Looks like they went to a fair bit of trouble building that concrete structure nicely to house that junction, I'd say it was some change to the Virgin media installation perhaps when the place was built to get the house where they wanted?

    Do all cars have airbags?

If this is your main concern, go for an older car, before everything got fitted with air bags. As others have said though its not like there are many false activations etc, most people probably go through their whole life without ever experiencing an air bag going off...

    What are these fixings called??

I bet those rivets posted could be expanded as a one of with some careful work with a small ball pein hammer.
