    Pipe bonding question...

All I can tell you about the wire is that it enters the wall behind the pipe. An EICR was completed by a qualified spark in 2022 and the installation was given a clean bill of health. Nobody has touched the bonding since—until today, that is. I’m struggling to remember—hence my OP— but I think...

    Pipe bonding question...

Thanks for the responses. The stopcock is on the incoming main from below ground and the pipework is all copper. The pipe that goes out of sight top left is the feed for the toilet cistern, nothing else.

    Pipe bonding question...

Afternoon all I've just adjusted some pipework in the bathroom after the water board removed an internal water meter. The pic below ( which is on its side) shows the bonding partially reinstated, but unfortunately I didn't take a picture before removing it to replace the pipes. Should the pipe...

    What's this under my bath?

I guess that solves it, then. The blocks were put there in 1965 to support a cast iron or maybe steel bath. I can therefore take them out without the house falling down.

    What's this under my bath?

They do, but as far as I can tell there a gap between blocks and bath, which makes it look as if whatever was originally supported by the blocks is now long gone. Were they still fitting cast iron baths in the 1960s?

    What's this under my bath?

Just about to remove the bath in our bathroom, ready to replace it with a shower cubicle and thermostatic shower. Underneath the shower end of the bath ( the bath taps are at the other end, on the inside of an outside wall) I discovered the arrangement in the picture. Its a low wall, two courses...

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Thanks for your reply and yes, I am concerned for safety. My daughter bought a house a few years back and we discovered that the previous occupier had removed an electric shower and left the live cable hanging down in the corner of a bedroom. No way do I intend to replicate that kind of...

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Again thanks for your input, but there’s already lighting in the loft.

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Interesting idea, though I doubt whether I'd ever use it.

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Righto, thanks. I'll make enquiries as to the cost thereof.

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Understood, thanks. I'm assuming that removing cables at a CU is something only a qualified professional should be entrusted with?

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Thanks for your reply. I'm just wondering how I proceed to terminate the cables after turning off the circuit breaker, and I wasn't planning to touch the cables hemselves at the CU end.

    Terminating an unused shower circuit

Morning all I'm just about to commence refurbishment of our bathroom, which amongst other things will involve removing an electric shower unit and replacing it with a thermostatic shower fed from the combi boiler. What is the acceptable method of isolating an unused shower circuit? I'll isolate...

Fluidmaster; can you adjust the short flush?

Thanks both. It’s so simple that I feel like a bit of a fool for asking. But if you don’t ask then you might never know, and having fitted this flush valve about 18 months ago the instructions are long gone.

Fluidmaster; can you adjust the short flush?

Is it possible to adjust the length of the short flush on a button cable Fluidmaster fill and flush valve? I think it must be, because Welsh Water removed our internal water meter the other day ( replacing it with a "smart" water meter outside) and the short flush now shuts off almost...

Logic+ c30 combi filing loop taps..?

Thank you. I was pretty sure that I’d turned that black tap to the horizontal when pressurising the boiler, mistakenly believing that it was the blue tap in front of it. But not 100 per cent sure, hence my question. All is now as it should be.

Logic+ c30 combi filing loop taps..?

Just found it online and it appears to be a return valve that, and I quote, "enables the user to manipulate the flow of water and gas in to the central heating system. These also allow you to stop the flow completely in case of a leak or emergency".

Logic+ c30 combi filing loop taps..?

As below, though unfortunately the photo is on its side. You should be able to see one blue tap on one pipe, and a blue tap and black tap on the other. The first blue tap opens the filling loop and the other blue tap, when opened, tops up the pressure. Its the position of the black tap behind...

Logic+ c30 combi filing loop taps..?

Afternoon all I’ve just added some rust inhibitor to our sealed CH system via the towel rail. The boiler is an Ideal Logic + combi c30. After I topped up the pressure in the system I discovered that we had no hot water: turned out that I’d left the filling loop tap in the horizontal position...

Rotating chrome pipework: would it leak?

Thanks again. Quick update. I managed to break up one of the floor tiles and, using the plunge saw blade of my new multi tool to make a nice square hole in the wooden floor, accessed the leaking Conex joint. Having opened a rad connection and allowed the entire contents of the CH system to...
