    car audio

That's the trouble with today's attitude, nobody wants to repair anything anymore or demands so much money to do so that it's cheaper to buy new again. Rather than pay hundreds of pounds for a new audio I'll put the money into keeping the car on the road. Thanks for the reply though (y)

    I do, one at 26yrs. & the other fast approaching 37. I don't have a smart-phone either ;) ANPR is something I can't do anything about though.

I realise this is a long shot, but if you don't ask .. The touch screen on my Xtrons PF7146BS android head unit (installed by a PO back in 2016) loses the screen display shortly after switching on the ignition, but annoyingly all functions including the steer & cell 'phone controls continue to...

Different Retailers Suggesting Different Engine Oil Grades

Used their 5w-40 LL04 & transmission fluid in my high mileage E39 for several years without issue. Considerable saving when compared to BM products, especially the fluid.

How important is the exact part number in a replacement bumper?

No knowledge of VW specifically but often the same part# will be used on other models in the manufacture's range. Sometimes the same component will be used by another manuf. albeit under a different # certainly for mechanical/electrical parts anyway. There are sites where cross-referencing is...

    Tesla magic running low

I'm not really 'into' this high tech. stuff bit thought I would run this : As far as I can make out Nissan's E-Power uses a petrol engine to charge a battery that runs the electric motor that provides the motive power  Is it not possible to delete the battery & have the ICE power the...

I would hate to collide with a modern RR, the poor sod would never get insurance cover again .. hard enough to procure in the first place  You make a good point about 'imported' emissions.

Best bet is to make the call from his Mum's then DVLA call handler can speak to her if required. Silly, though widely employed, form of security really as anyone could masquerade as 'Mum' on the 'phone

Sadly the older generation can be trying at times, I should know as I'm one of them  As suggested you could contact Swansea to quote both the reg. & VIN # from the V5c

Could you not tax it for her online ? I always do that for our cars & have done so for elderly neighbours that don't have the internet. As for 'mad old folk' you'll be one some day

    Tesla magic running low

I like the horse 'n cart analogy (y) As for crash resistance my old BMW comes out pretty well when viewed on Utube crash tests & an identical example of my Range Rover classic totally obliterated a Renault Clio in a head-on a few years back, in return for a smashed light unit a bent wing &...

    Petrol prices app

Last Saturday I travelled from Chelmsford to Norwich & was surprised to find a much greater variation in petrol prices from service stations on the A12 than is found in Chelmsford & it's surrounding areas. Two places on the northbound carriageway north of Colchester were selling at £1.43/44...

And basically reliable things as well .. my two have a combined age of 63 years & still going strong. Will be a different story for the disposable items, sorry cars, produced today. Legislation will likely kill the old 'uns long before they die naturally :(
