    Puncture repairs

That's about what I paid for four X Climates on my old E39 three years ago, wouldn't get them for that price today! £100+ to £140 a corner for mid-range summer rubber now, I steer clear of budget brands.

    Yes, I'm A Sad Git

Having inadvertently killed a battery by failing to switch off headlights when parking up after driving in daylight, but having used headlights due to poor visibility, I'm not sure I agree with the latter part of your post. As for the former, our last car had auto headlight control, but we...

    Bye Bye old girl

I like your style ! I'll be selling a 37 year old range Rover that I've owned/cherished for 16 years & my attitude towards buyers will mirror yours ! Less than 1k PA usage vs cost of upkeep to keep it original (plus £350+ VED) is sadly no longer viable.

+ 1 I wonder how many more of us should claim the title, me for starters

Would a car radiator fan work better if it didnt blow the hot air back on the engine?

My money would be on the radiator, but confess to having zero knowledge of that specific breed .. more used to larger pre-1990's cars, but the principles of cooling systems remain largely unchanged.

Interest only, electric car charging points 7 kW or 22 kW?

Whilst realising your post is tongue-in-cheek .. According to my neighbour, who is a salesperson for a large dealer network in E. Anglia, EV sales to businesses are doing well, probably due to the generous incentives offered by the government, but private buyers are conspicuous by their...

    BMW Owners

Neither does climate controls where you have to look down for silly little buttons & a digital display to change the settings, whereas at one time you kept your eyes on the road whilst you felt for a knob & turned it the appropriate # of clicks for the desired fan speed. Simple coloured slide...

    BMW Owners

'Ah yes, I remember those days with a fondness ;) Even the lack of safety features wasn't such a threat, less traffic & impatient drivers .. you just drove within your own & the car's parameters.

    BMW Owners

In fairness all of us could relate such incidences & the problem is only bad driving examples are noticed, rarely the good. How about the driver of a bus loaded (peak travel period) with passengers I saw talking on his mobile whilst negotiating busy traffic o_O Doesn't make me condemn all bus...

Not certain about that, but there is an old saying .. 'no smoke without fire' 'Oh & by the way, despite being a BMW driver my 60 year clean driving record bears testament that I don't fit the stereotype.

Towing Fiesta - No brakes? IDK!?

Always assuming the vehicle has a fully floating axle. I can remember the days when a broken half-shaft resulting in the loss of the rear wheel !

Towing Fiesta - No brakes? IDK!?

Decades ago, when cars were not as reliable as they (generally) are today I was often called upon to tow as I usually had the biggest/heaviest car. Things are different today, cars are much harder to control with non-functioning PAS & 4 wheel disc brakes are scary without power assistance...

    Airbag new connection

Sorry to hijack Mottie, I've often read of this procedure but been reluctant to employ it for fear of causing problems with modern day auto electrics. My E39 BM is 26 years old, but nevertheless seriously dependant on electronics & I don't want to b....r anything up. Your thoughts would be...

Towing Fiesta - No brakes? IDK!?

I believe it's now an offence to tow an immobile vehicle by such methods, unless it's for relocation to a position of safety. Even using a bar doesn't alter the fact that the vehicle under tow has now become an un-braked trailer weighing more than 750kg. Possibly still a grey area, but I do...
